Mission Effects on Faction Status

I was playing Freelancer with a friend over LAN yesterday when a question struck me whilst we were doing missions for the gaians in order to increase our standing with them and buy some of their guns. We made sure to do missions for the gaians that only attacked other widely disliked factions, like the outcasts.

Basically, my question is: if I were to fulfill a mission objective requiring me to attack the outcasts, which are hated by everyone, would this still lower my faction standing with a faction like planetform inc, because the mission is from the Gaians?

Thanks in advance, Negdawen.

I am not quite certain, but i believe that the more popular you are with the Gaians, for example, the more companies like Planetform or Brettonia police will dislike you.

If you fly a mission for any faction, it affects your rep with everyone. However, you can attack a faction's enemies and thus get fiendlier with the faction and not have it damage your rep with others as much. That way you are not actually working for the faction.

Best I can say here is check your faction status.
You'll notice most factions have allies and enemies.
What you don't see are "hidden" alliances.
Shoot alot of Xenos...and your rep with the Zoners and IMG begins dropping.
Kill just Corsairs....and the Hogosha will be the ones who hate you worse than the Corsairs but it also affects your rep with the Junkers (who are quasi-zoner like).
Outcasts have tight or loose alliances with the GC, Liberty Rogues and Lane Hackers. What ever you do to the outcasts will affect your rep with their alliances as well. But only the Outcasts will hate you worse.
GC also happen to be loosely allied with the Blood Dragons.

It isn't just about enemies and allies...it also involves what factions does "buisness" with what factions.
I was surprised to see Outcasts being neutral with Samura in the Tau-system.
