mining asteroids...

Hey freelancers....

Let me just say that "Freelancer" is a flat out, kick butt game...
I just have another quick question about gameplay though.I have reached another point in the story where juni tells me to go find some work until she can hook up again. Here's my question: I'm currently flying around in the TAHOE ICE FIELD, and
I want to stop and Mine some asteroids for ice or whatever .I shoot the crap out of these things, but no go. Even the small asteroids. Is this a mineable zone, or should i go elsewhere? Am i missing something? If anybody can help me out with this,
that'd be spectacular.

Good hunting...

Some fields don't even spit out stuff even though they say they can be mined. I suggest going somewhere else. Like Leeds.

To check if an asteroid field is mineable go to your nav map. There should be an icon that when clicked will highlight with a yellow colour, the fields that have deposits.

Also don't shoot too much crap out of the asteroids. Maybe just use one quick fire wep or you may be destroying the goods as they break from the asteroid.

IMO: Nice way to get bored of FL, worth a try to get used to all aspects of the game mind you but Vanilla FL trade routes were generally a quicker, more interesting and easier money making exercise.

Mining is a good way to get money for nothing, especially early in the SP game when you are trying to get enough to buy a better ship and equipment. But I agree that it gets boring rather quickly.

Note: This is a spoiler, if you don't want to ruine your gameplay don't read this!!!
The best way to get money is to find some shipwreck!
After escape from New York try to be friends with Corsairs (it's not that difficult) ang go to Omicron Gamma. You will find on the way out pllenty of shipwreck!
Shipwreck it's not giving you only commodities, also it's give you good weappon! (this is the good part)

Yeah go there if you dont mind minefield there

Minefield? The only minefield dangerous to my ship is in New York -> Alaska. I will be more concerned about radiation!
I'll go trough the rest of the minefield with cruise engine activated and they did almost nothing against my shield!

The best place for ship wreck is in omega 41 i think. Or whatever one has the Von Rhoe belt. There are loads of wrecked ships scattered in an asteroid field right next to the suns radiation. If you want riches, than go there but take extreme precautions. Otherwise you will sizzle like a sausage on a barbeque. except a million times hotter

The Omega 11 asteroid field is a great get-rich-quick area- just mine Diamonds in a dromedary and go sell them on Tokyo

i like the wrecks in the "great battle between rhineland and the GMG" and do rocks give anything in the badlands?

Post Thu Apr 12, 2007 6:08 pm

last two posts: sigma 13 you can see one in the mission when you go there, there are 5-6 wrecks each with 2 codename weps and lots of mines, cm, and cd. just go north, and when you reach the many wrecks in the gas field thats all of them. and as to the badlands, no
