How do you mine?

The manual doesn't mention how to mine asteroid fields. How do you go about this?

Edit: Ah, okay you just shoot asteroids and hope something comes out of em. It's kinda rare to get anything.

see my post "harvesting?". it's all u got to know. but it takes time and it's not very profitable. In the nav map u have one icon called " mineable areas" or so. go there and start to shoot anything that makes your reticle spinning white.

Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth, usually (but not always) from an ore body, vein, or (coal) seam. Any material that cannot be grown from agricultural processes must be mined. Mining in a wider sense can also include extraction of petroleum, natural gas, and even water.

Sheesh, you mean if I want to mine, I have to travel all the way from the Sirius System to the earth???

Time to build a sleeper ship.
