Commodity util wanted

Hey all.

I was wondering if anybody could point me to a util that details the buy -and- sell prices for commodities on all planets. I've tried a few, and Lancer Thing comes closest, but it will only give the sell prices for ports that sell a particular commodity, for buy prices, you have to look up each and every planet individually. While an improvement over having to fly to each and every planet, it still lacks the "at my fingertips" availability that I'm looking.

I only look for this because I find it silly that you have to fly to each and every port to find out what they're buying and selling. This is the sort of information that I would expect any functional economy to be advertising whenever possible. What good is it to have a huge surplus of diamonds while your people die of thirst due to water shortages, since nobody has docked in port recently?

Unfortunately, there's one more feature I'm hoping to find. As if the features I listed above weren't unlikely enough, I'm also hoping that the util I find has the ability to list the commodities straight out of the FL INI files. I ask this simply because a lot of mods alter the prices and availabilities of commodities throughout the Sirius systems.

So, am I completely out of luck?

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

As a rule of thumb, buy prices are identical to sell prices.

Now, it's not necessary to know the specific prices of commodities on all bases. All you should know is which areas pay well for which commodities. For example, Kusari pays well for Diamonds, Rheinland pays well for Niobium. This is not true of all bases in the area, of course, but since there are only a few commodities in the game that are really worth your time to trade, you'll soon learn where to go to and from with them. Search out a "Trade Routes" thread for more detailed information.

Check the FL editing utilities forum, they offer tons of commodity helper type thingies.

BUT most mods don't want you scanning the ini's, and they consider it cheating, and a bannable offense.

In the downloads section you should be able to find a tool called the Trade Route Calculator.

This tool will take some time to load, will parse the ini files in the game directory (so activate mod first) and then return results in a table.

Put in where you want to go from/to - and it will calculate the best profits for you. It can also caculate the best routes for you (as in most profitable) across the whole of Sirius.
