old savegames in modded game

Hi,

I played the game the second time. In the first I stopped in the game without reached the end of storyline. Now I can't win the Hovis race. The first time i won After many lost races I search the forum for help an I found someone. I installed the FLMM and a Mod.

Now the question. If I start the modded game I haven't any saved games. I copy one of the old savegames (the folder will renamed if I start with a mod) into the new savegame folder but nothing! So I won't play the storyline from beginning to hovis again. Any idea?

The majority of saved games won't work if you added a mod. Its because you changed something in the game and in all probability, will cause the game to crash. Sorry.

thanks for this, but I only want to jump the race and continue the game not cheat the game (I think this mod is like a cheat) I will play the race in the original version again to win.

My hard drive crashed and had to do the game over again. i cant seem to get past the race and have been trying now for 3 days. i have looked thru the forums and cant seem to find any help on this till i saw that silver had the same problem. i am using the cavalier ship they provide at the base, and still having problems. any help will be appreciated.

The race has to be the most talked about mission in the game.

Use the search function in the FL forums, and you will see what I mean.

The ship you are in really doesn't matter. The way to do it is use shift-W to engage cruise, and stay close. The last 2 gates are where you will win, because Hovis goes way off course.

It isn't easy, and took me 2 or 3 tries.

Of course, you could simply change your thruster speed to faster than 300, and you will easily win as well.

all you have to do is stay rght by hovis throught the race he "unexspectidly" falls behind and you win.But i raced him in a gun boat once man he finished the race in front of me by like 2mins and i still won lol i must be lucky or something

Try using "A"&"D" on your keyboard to sideslide through the gates,it helps to turn your ship faster so you can line up the next gate.

Try doing thruster the entire time. Or at least for a little bit, then cut your engines and slide. Z is the standered, i think. It might work, or it might not.

The race mission was an unexpected change from previous (and following) missions. Good Stuff.
As for beating Hovis: This mission shouldn't be causing you so much trouble. I did it on the second try... in a freighter. The only reason I didn't get it on the first go is that, as you come out of one of the gates, it's hard to tell whether you should take a sharp right or a sharp left to hit the next gate. I zigged when I shoulda zagged.

I think the only real *key* to winning is: As soon as the bell dings, kick in the Cruisers and start moving down the course. Cruise should kick in shortly, and if you hug the corners tight, you'll be in front before the 1/2 way mark. Watch the course ahead of you and get ready to crank out of the gate you're in towards the next one (hug the corners).
