newbie questions

i'm making a very simple mod for starters; all it does is tweak the LightSources a bit to fit with my perception of realism. I just have one problem. I need to create an object - a nav buoy to be precise - and I actually have absolutely no idea how to do so.
I also need to have it not have those flashing lights.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Why not just use a standard navbouy for starters and if you don't want the flashing lights then simply don't give it a loadout.

the problem is that i have no idea how to add a nav buoy in the first place!

I highly recommend that you look through the tutorials and start reading. I do not intend this to sound rude or anything, just there is a lot to modding. There is a ton of turorials that will get you off to a good start. You also need a good understanding of the ini file structure and other files and how they inter-relate with each other which the tutorials will also assist you with.

Along with the above, just search the forums. There is a great chance that what you are looking for is here already in a thread or 2.

For starters, use a program called Freelancer Explorer. Search the downloads for it and you will find it. This will allow you to place a ton of things into a system.

that program is not for noobs - you will make a system that does not work. and yes, there are several dark space mods, you can get two of them over at the EOA's site

Thanks. I sat through a few of the tutorials and creatd my own system. There is only one problem; the name of the jumpgate is New York -> California. Now, I did copy the code from the Califronia jumpgate and changed the destinations and all that, but I would like to get rid of that name.
