Modding questions

Hi. I'd like to know how can I create new factions. Is there a software for that?
And, is there a mod for battleships missions?

PS.: Don't tell me to use the search feature. I did tried it.

No offense but look in the tutorials section, there's an excellent one by Mace_166 near the top
