Tweaking an existing mod in sp? (Crossfire)

Hi all. I'm runnning now the crossfire (last version) mod to continue the sp game I was playing, but I found the AI of the enemies too hard to my level (yes, you can laugh at me..)
Well, the question it's simple: I'm looking for the .ini or .ini's wich are in charge of all the AI improvement stuff and remove it from the mod, just to make a little easier the dogfight until I get bored of stupid pilots trying to kill me. Concretly I would like to remove, more than other, the ability of using nano/shield, as them seems to be infinite and I can't even shot down a single corsair ship. (it's quite frustating manage to hit a pirate with a burst, remove it's shield and see it again full... well, the first time no, but when you have seen it over 10 times yes -.-)

So that's it, I would like to know what are the AI improvement files in the mod (or in a "general" mod to make a backup of them and store until I want to restore them. I'm going to try to delete some files, but a plain explanation about "how AI works" it could be cool.

impossible to do for you
changes will be detected as cheat

d'uh in single player the game checks if you are cheating?
well, there's (or there will be) any way of disabling the AI in the mod without making changes? I repeat, I only want to do this in single player, as I'm not even think in beggining a online play, nor use any mod..

In addition, I'm thinking: There are any way on make this change changin the "mod id" in the freelancer mod manager, so I can take out that feature and load croosfire with the AI as a "new" mod?

I disagree with Swat, but I don't actually know what "cheat protection" they've done on the files.

However, you should be able to stop the NPC's using bots if you wish, as well as potentially making them easier too (although more difficult). You could comment out all nano bots and shield batteries from the loadouts.ini file (ships directory). I'd be expecting them to be present as a line like:

cargo = ge_s_battery_01, number
cargo = ge_s_repair_01, number

Of course, number is an actual number (The number they have). You should be able to do a mass "replace" function under the edit menu of a text editor, replacing all lines that are
cargo = ge_s_battery_01
with
;cargo = ge_s_battery_01

and then the same for repairs too. Comment them out, and then save the file.

I won't do pilot stuff, simply because I am revising for exams, and I don't know what pilots exist - there could be one heck of a lot of individual entries in the mod for different pilots of all factions, which would take ages.

It shouldn't affect MP side of things either, because loadouts of NPC's (and encounters) are all done server side, not client side. Unless they scan your files (which is personally not something I would encourage in the Freelancer world, as it's invasive and completely accusatory in nature), I don't quite see how it would get picked up as a cheat either (and even if it did, it wouldn't give any advantages to players at all, because it's a server side parameter).

yes SP has a cheat detection
and no you cant edit any files without being kicked because of cheating even in sp

Yeah, I've tried to cange some of the files and I reveive an error.. well, maybe other day I try the loadouts.ini trick, as both files (the freelancer's original and the mod one) are similar in those values...
It's planned add skill selection options in further crossfire versions? Just curiosity and obviously interest, as I cannot play crossfire with that npc's skill..

Ok my eyes are going funny, did he just say SP (single player) has cheat protection? Thats strange because I'm playing with a modded ship right now on single player ... Oh well, it has poor cheat detection! lol

i really doubt that you play with an edited or custom ship that was not delivered with CF1.6, CF1.61 or CF1.62

it is just not possible for you
most likely you just mean the vanilla SP and not CF
