changing the nav-map ?

Hi to all
do anyone know how to chang the navmap background (making it transparent or semi-transparent for example) and/or change its position.

In case any one is reading this
I *think* I have found were to start from :

DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\navmaptextures.ini
DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\navmap_background.cmp
DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\navmaptextures.txm

But I'm still not sure what format should I export the files from the .cmp and .txm
but I know it has to be some were here, I'v tried to open the exported files by Adobe Photoshop but it dosn't want to open them so it's supposed to be some weird extention ...???

Have you tried .tga ? that's usually what freelancer uses.

well I did try .tga but didn't work

First, i was wrong about the .tga , it worked , mabe there was somthing wrong wen i tried them before (mabe was to sleepy ?? )

second,i found somthing new:

DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\zoomedmap_liberty.3db
---> for the SYSTEM BG

DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\nav_prettymap.3db
---> for the UNIVERS BG

i'v tried them, these are indeed what i need
but still there is a prob. i wana make the navmap transparant
i tried to decrease the alpha for the .tga but it didn't help, i even tried to inport an entierly trans. pic but it was white in the game instead of trans. ????

any help anybody?

have u tryed to make a tga with an alpha layer??? if done so try to save the tga with another program, i have learned that there are 2 standards of the .tga-format, some progams can save both and ask u about that (eg. corel photopaint), otherwise have u tryed a dds-textures(this also reduce the filezise of textures)???

Holzbein, I agree with you absolutly.Having transparant HUD and navmap would be cool.

Have you ever tried to add transparency and glowmap effects to a MAT file with UTF edit, if not then this might be a little to much for some people.

What you see on screen and this applies to everything you see ie HUD, Navmap, inventory etc. are comprised of several layers of models (3DB & CMP) stacked one on top of the other. Adding a transparency to the map 3db will make it see through, but only to show the solid layers that are behind it.

I've been trying to find the layers for the universe map for the past couple of hours, I've found the front 2 and made them invisable to let me see the ones behind them, but I've still got a couple left to find.

Once I've found them all I'll post a how to, but if you've never used UTF edit then get it and learn how to use it as I'm not posting an "idiots guide".

Oh,now I know how .Transparant HUD and navmap look really cool.It can be done in about 15 minutes or even less.No cmp editing needed (thanks to nomads).
I can tell how if You all want to.

P.S.
I am not sure if this is it that you wanted about navmap,but what about HUD - that's it.
