Maximum system size?

Can the maximum of 160000 be changed? i saw somebody stuffed all of liberty into one system while browsing the tlr news.

i tried increasing the size of a new system to... well... much.

when i came to it, everything (the jumpgate and my ship) was viewed in double or triple, and then it chrashed

Take a Pick!

I read once that the max coords are -500000 to 500000. You'd have to do some manual editing to be able to design systems like that. In the data->universe->universe.ini file (save files as text), change a system's NavMapScale value. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the max/min values are +/-(10000/NavMapScale) to remain on the HUD map. If you manually edit that early, Freelancer Explorer will use the new values and let you edit normally.

I made a hyperspace system once that was about 500000x500000. It's not necessarily a size issue as object issue. There is a limit on how much you can put into a system before it becomes unstable.

What object issue? I had a ONE ship, and ONE gate in it, tell me, is that too much?

Well supposedly there is a minimum ammount of things that have to be in the system file for it to work. I've never run into that myself but no matter. You have to be careful about the navmapscale entry in universe.ini because if that is missing/wrong it will cause problems for resized systems.

I've had systems work correctly with a star, a lightsource, a death zone, a jump node and me.

There is no minimum number of object that I know of but I am beginning to suspect that the max is 256. That is just my suspicion at the moment based on experience.

The navmapscale line in universe.ini below a system declaration is, in my own experience, not needed unless you want to make the system smaller.

the standard size of a system if there is no navmapscale line extant is 200000 x 200000 x 200000. if anyone cares to contradict, I am open to being wrong but this is my experience.

The bigger the number put in as the variable for navmapscale, the smaller the system.
I have no idea what the limit is but i'd tread lightly here and not make one smaller than the smallest standard shrink you can find in universe.ini

Anything Louva-Deus says that contradicts what I say.......He's right and i'm wrong.

A System can be much bigger than 160000. I made one that is 500000x500000x
500000
