3db files

Managed to creat a working object using cmp format in a similar manner to ship model set up . However the simpler objects in fl seem to use the 3db fomat.
Would appreciate some pointers to a tutorial for creating these files if there is one plus the best tools and plugins for export to the format etc.
Looks like i could copy stuff from cmp with uft edit and create 3db but there must be an easier way .

Hmm my object seems to work ok but it dosn't register on system map after visit (actually way i want it at mo.) should there be a "visit = #" line or is it likely somthing else altogether.

Thx for any help you can give

.3db is a cutdown/simplified format, but pretty the same (from modders point of view) as a .cmp

your model/whatever it is is fine with .cmp, no need to make a .3db out of it.

to the things not showing up on the map:
visit = 0
means its invisible until you got near it. once you have it on the map, it will stay there (wont disappear again).
there a list of the visit = entries somewhere, try a search for them. ill let you know if i bump in to hte list again.

The visit = 0 wasn't the answer to a new (or any) object showing on map this makes no difference. I found the solution in solararch .ini after a little digging. I'll post seperately so other's who don't know can find it.
