Can't we use TLR for the tutorals and just make a start on the mod so it's not all a waste?

sure, you can use whatever tut you see fit.
So far i have found my weapons tutorial (tnx for the acadia modders to copy it for me ) and i might be able to get a backup of my other tuts as well.
(from a half-year old backup, lol, but that would be ok cause i havent touched the tuts for a year).

so the tuts luckily arent all lost, still the forums were a big loss.
our site is almost good to go, we have been very busy recreating the forums and the content, so not much is missing.
I am about to prepare the announcement and the big opening, expect it ~this weekend.

Mod-wiese nothing was lost - simply because we didnt mod much so far. We wanted to plan all into detail and then start the actual moddig work.

This question is odd but. Was the server with the forums on a "home" compter server? if so why can't you just use recovery software? like winhex or handy recovery 1.00?

nope, it was stored at our host's isp - and the server discs - as well as all backups were toasted.

ah ok. i red up a little bit on your excelcia mod and most of the pll that replyed said it was fantastic. so where do we start? i'm also lerning about commodities at the moment.

we gonna launch this weekend, once the most important concepts stand.
Most of the modding tasks cant start right away, they need to be worked out.
What can get started are mostly ships (they take a bit longer anyway).
and also whatever concepts are finalized.

There will be a LOT to mod,but i think i can say that the concepts are a lot better then Excelcia was.

can i help out the mod i haven't done any mods but tried out Freelancer exploer

Dang, that has to suck having everything crash on you. I'd really like to help you rebuild, but i'm a complet newbie to modding. I have some really good ideas, but I need to know how to get them out of my head and into Freelancer. I've got quite a bit of time on my hands becuase I live way out in the country, but I do know a lot about computers, and I learn very fast. I'd really like to be a part of the team.

A quick update:
the concepts are getting clearer and detailed. i think i have written over twice as much docs and planning for the infinity mod than my previous projects alltogether.

I will also try to rebuild my tutorials, the weapons tutorial i made could already be saved and reposted.

just a lil *bump*

most of the old tutorials are restored by now, so starting off even as a newbie is easier.
meanwhile we have many concepts worked out into detail - including some unique stuff with freaky ideas - but they will work.
we are at a stage where we are nearly to release the first very very small testing alphas (mainly for flight physics and PvP testing/balancing between the 4 houses)
