Looking for a place with a mod team.

I'm looking for a mod team to join that could use my services and help me build a portfolio. I am confident in my modeling, texturing, sound composition, and level design skills and would be more than happy to put those to work for a good mod team. I am also a quick learner with coding/scripting, and have some experience with C++, Java Script, and Unreal Script, as well as currently studying the Torque engine, so I am confident I can pick up whatever scripting knowledge I might need readily enough.

However, my core interest is in design work, rather than art or coding, and I would love to work as a writer, ruleset/world designer, or really any design work for a mod. I am an excellent team worker and very self motivated, so should be a valuable asset to any team.

My motivation to work on mods for Freelancer are threefold: 1) it's a fun game that my friends and I have enjoyed for hours together and I'd love to see it grow. 2) I never get tired of designing and creating worlds and have a love of space games, having been and old die-hard fan of Wing Commander, and 3) I am attempting to break into the game development industry as a designer, and need to develop portfolio work that will impress potential employers.

So, I am primarily interested in a mod team that will A) be willing to list the work I do, and allow me to use it in my personal portfolio, be working on large mods involing detail and extensive design work, and C) hold a high standard for the mods they put out.

Hi,

Yes I do have a spot for ya if you are interested.
I am looking for someone to help on my mod with systems, faction weapons, ships, skins, etc. My mod is really just a personal project, but I know almost everything that goes into messing with the game. Which is pretty much, weapon making, ship making, CMP models, not alot on skinning, TGA files, system making. My mod isn't that big, I don't got a server yet since I am unable to host one on a personal coputer, and the forums and site was reset. So really I am pretty much re-doing everything. If you are interested I could send ya a list on what I have planned in my mod and you can chedck out some of the older versions, which I do have a topic here.
If you got any questions you can e-mail me.

Hey Lethandis!

If you're interested in joining an active, established mod team, you may wish to consider the Phoenix Mod Team.

We are a dedicated group of modders (about 7 strong at this point), who work on the Phoenix RPG Mod, which is run on the dedicated Phoenix RPG Server. The mod is RP-based, to fit with our server, so a lot of our work goes into detailed design. We work to make a player-driven universe, where players and factions and their actions affect the mod universe in subsequent mod versions. Thus, system, rumor, news, and infocard creating and editing is an important part of our work. We also do a lot of work with equipment, commodities, and balancing.

We also have a small shipwright staff, that works to create new ships for the mod. We have many very skilled modelers, and a few texturers as well, which means that our mod has many custom ships.

Lastly, we work towards breaking the boundaries of Freelancer, as you may have seen with our latest work: the NPC Wingmen Video which documents a breakthrough that our mod team managed along with the 88 Flak Mod Team. Your experiance in programming may be very helpful in this regard, as it involves knowledge about the workings of important game files like DLLs and the EXE.

Also, we have a dedicated and fun community at Phoenix, which strongly supports the mod team. We'd be more than happy to assist you in building your portfolio in any way we can.

If you're interested, see our community or email me at [email protected].
