Red Dwarf Ships

I know people generally don't do "charity work" anymore, but it's worth a shot.

I'm a Red Dwarf fan. A BIG RD fan. I was thinking it would be heaven if I put the greatest TV show with the Greatest Game!

Basically, I was wondering if someone could make a Red Dwarf Ship Pack. Someone made a Starbug mod for StarLancer way back, but I would prefer it for Freelancer instead.

Here are the ships I would like:

The Red Dwarf:

Now, in the series, the Red Dwarf is about 5 miles long, but, you can make it about the size as a Liberty Cruiser
-------------------------------------
Starbug 1:

Starbug is a pretty small craft. Make it approximately as big as a Rhino.
-------------------------------------
Blue Midget:

I don't really care whether this is included or not, but it would be nice.
-------------------------------------

So, if someone would be nice enough to make these for me and, if possible, make them FLMM compatible, I would be most happy. I would do it myself, but I don't have a program to make 3-D models with. Let alone making them into FL compatible ships.

Easiest way to do this would be to convert the ships from models already created for other games ... for example ... take a look at battleclinic. Try this link for the red dwarf;

http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php?id=3205

It's fairly easy to convert SFC models to work in freelancer, using MS3D and plugins, plus the .MAT and .CMP exporter. Would need to get permission from the original SFC modeller though...

I'm sure I've also seen the Starbug in one of the major mods out there .. can't remeber which on ehtough. I'm sure someone will tell you on this thread.

If you get permission for converting the Red Dwarf, let me know and I may do it for you ... but I won't scale or hardpoint (I can but I have too many of my own projects to work on ;-).

Good Luck.

I would but I dont have MS3D, or either exporters. If I did, I would have made this myself. I'll give it a shot, though.

OK - but if you et problem, let me know. MS3D can be run for 3o days in demo mode ... long enough to convert one ship ;-)

OK ... scratch my previous comments ... I just downloaded the model from Battleclinic and the polygon count is too high for MS3D (it crashes it) ... this happens with quite a few SFC models. I'm justing hunting around to see if I can find a lower polycount one ... or indeed a Bridgecommander file (these tend to have fewer polys). Will re-post here if I find one.. if not, you may have to create the model from scratch... in which case the texture files from the SFC model may beof some use.
