I Have a nomie texture!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen...i won't say how but i managed to get my hands on a set of nomie textures...i must admit they were boring except 1...

which is purple, slightly see through and looks very good on ships

its the closest texture your gonna get to the ingame textures...to receive a copy..start by getting on my good side....MWAHAHA

Got you all started eh?

Edit - No all caps in the subject, its hard on the ears.

Why don't you tease us with pictures of the nomads with this texture?

Post Tue Dec 12, 2006 4:07 pm

aint it just a simple export using UTF editor then putting the same UTF coding on the the other mat files...

well the .txm file has never been cracked to date (except by DA and MS) so i think its an achievement ...its the file which WONT load up in the UTF editor

Post Wed Dec 13, 2006 7:07 am

hotwire check you facts bud, the txm's have been done and redone by most of the old moders around here. They are nothing more than half of a MAT file as they only hold the texture's and texture library part of a MAT file, I've made dozens of them for new planet's etc.

how did ya think i got them facts hotwire and they do open up with the UTF editor ^^

obviously i made some sort of mistake because these REALLY DO NOT open in the UTF...i had to get a different program...

Post Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:10 am

Dm Rankor's 88 Wasp(with some cleaned up geometry) - you can't see from the screenshot, but the glowing intakes are double-layers with two textures, one is a simple alpha texture with opacity and emissiveness, and the second (foreground) is a simple emissive.these two layers are moved diagonally by material animations (wink) so they appear to, well glow like plasma or something.

the nozzles around the outside of the engine are animated too(they give the illusion of rotation) the cockpit-glass shows how to use a dcdtocottwo property with an alpha'd texture to make a nice looking set of cockpit-struts

Material animations do look nice CV don't they, and pretty easy once you understand the mechanics behind them. Although trying to get the duration, speed & direction spot on for a planet I'm working on is a pain, there's a visible **** as the texture resets itself if the duration is out.

*EDIT* since when was J-E-R-K a swear word.

ah! wanna share notes?

my guesses:
seconds to run animation
U - offset X
U - offset Y
V - offset X
V - offset Y

and then further animations use the same format.....oh and apparently you can flip the texture, but you can't rotate it. I wanna apply some animations to the nomads now hehe looping is not very apparent on my textures; 1, because the nozzle texture was designed to apply seamlessly and 2, the plasma textures may be too noisy to spot any seams.
