Music for Privateer

I haven't heard any of the music that may or may not be in the mod. But just posted today at WC News are several excellently remastered .mp3s from the game. And they are especially made to loop really well, so having it continue in flight would be no problem. It may require a separate music mod, but for some, especially the "Launch" music file will really immerse ourselves in the feel of the game we love so much.

Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Agricultural Base (8:00 loop) (7.6 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Launch (7:33 loop) (7.3 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - New Constantinople (9:06 loop) (8.7 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Perry (5:15 loop) (5.0 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Pirate_Base (8:02 loop) (7.7 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Pleasure Planet (8:37 loop) (8.2 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Steltek Base (3:51 loop) (3.7 MB )
Barrat, Shaefgen & Vugrinec - Steltek Destroyed (3:40 loop) (3.5 MB )

Most of those are in the mod, plus several not on that list.
The Launch tune, along with the 2 Steltek tunes, are the only ones not in the mod.
Might I point out...
The versions in the mod are between 490kb, and 840kb, with zipped size of almost 6mb.
Simply swapping those versions for the ones we have would increase the mod size by 48mb.
That's the mod (6mb) plus old music (6mb) plus new music (48mb)=60mb!
With my 10mb email limit, that's 6, 2 hour each, uploads.

I had originally planned on using the Launch Tune in the FP7 scene, but that's not how FL is setup, and it would show up all over the place.
The Steltek tunes would've shown up whenever bad guys appear, even pirates.
(Not just nomads.)

Yeah, I realized it might be big for your mod, as your connection is slow. Which is why I only cited "Launch" because if you had that while flying through space on a normal basis it would do a lot toward making the game Privateer.

Well, Launch is the tune from the scene where the Tarsus gets jumped by the Pirates, destroys the Pirates, and accidentily hits a Drone with a missile.
It has several, for lack of a better word, "pauses," for dialog, ship flys, and missile explosions.
When flying around in space, those pauses sound as though a new tune has started up.
Not only that...
Almost every space tune in Privateer is just a slight variation of another.
So...
I placed the limited mb into on-base, and in-bar tunes.
Instead of the 7 or 8 variations.

@Warzog, well, then this "Launch" sounds different from how you described it. It has no such pauses for dialog or explosions. I just listened to the whole thing. It was a real score for the normal flight. The beginning of the song is just like when you launch off of any base in Privateer, then moves into it's neat flight score. The stereo sound of the instruments is also very nicely done!

Give it a listen, I think you'll like this version a lot. And though big, this one song is worth it!

Sir S

EDIT: I just listened to all the songs and then compared them to the existing mp3s I had before. The new ones are so much better!! They have crisper sound, they're more stereo, they make more use of the bass and they're long enough that you don't think you're repeating anything if they looped.

Converting, adapting and/or trimming music files down for FL is not especially difficult. For SWMM, I compressed and edited down 50 meg of .CDA files into less than 10 meg.

Sounds almost exactly like the original midi! Congrats.
