A few Gameplay Questions to the Beta-Testers..

Hi,

i have been a big fan of Privateer. Since Priv seems to be the pre-predecessor of FL i am nervously looking forward to the release of FL.

However, beside that FL won't have a joystick support, i heard some irritating rumors about its gameplay.

Can someone please tell me wether it is true or not that...
- All ships in the game, freighters and fighters, do have the same maximum velocity?
- Shield-Batteries are bought in order to use them like Health-Potions in Diablo?

If those rumors are true, I seriously worry about the gameplay since I cannot imagine that it would feel like a space-sim any longer.

Does someone have a different opinion about that?

Welcome to the forums, Maniac!
First of all, the "beta-testers" can't reply to your questions even if they liked to. They're bound by non-disclosure agreement. What we DO have are PR version players, and they can answer your question.

1. Same basic speed, yes. But it is possible to upgrade the thrusters (afterburners) of your ships, adding more speed and keep it distinguished.

2. No, that is plain silly (chuckle). You will be able to buy nanobots packs, and they recuperate your damaged parts overtime, not instantaneously like in Diablo!

1. Yes, but not the same acceleration, turn rate, or mass, all of which are far more important than speed. It's not noticable.

2. They're more like patch kits than health potions. You can use them to patch your hull integrity up, but thats it. It won't suddenly make your wings or destroyed hardpoints reappear. It also will not repair damage to individual pieces of equipment.

Welcome to the forums!

It's all in the way you say it.

Spit...we were all "newbies" at one time. Whether we are recruits or admirals, all are welcome.

I came. I saw. I conquered. And sometimes get conquered.
