what are the other games out there that are giving freelancer a run for it's money?

X2, and earth above and beyond, to name two.I've even heard a rumour elite 4 will be released next year. but you know this business who can tell?

I think the main competitors with FL is X2 and EVE, even though EVE is a different type of game people insist on comparing them.

Yeah what is going on with Elite 4? Quite a bit of info was released a couple of years back and then nothing.

If you click their "Games" menu on the left they have an entry for Elite 4. However the dates at the bottom of the questions are very old (2000,2001). Since it hasn't been updated in a loooong time there is probably either nothing going on or it is still a long way off.
