Targeting reticle accuracy question.

When aiming with the red plus in the targeting reticle I know that it is not accurate if your weapons are rated for different ranges. My question is:

Is the red plus showing where to fire for your longest ranged equipped weapon or longest ranged active weapon?

I use one of the lasers that destroys shields quickly and it has a longer range than my other weapons, when the opponents shields are gone I deactivate it but seem to lose accuracy anyway.
Thanks for any knowledge.

no its about speed - if you have two speed ranges or more in your weapons selection the reticles position will be an average of all the active weapon's speeds. the simple fix for mixed speeds is to use the weapon grouping keys that digital anvil was so kind as to include

Thank you.

I had the thing about speed and range mixed up, but have been using the weapon group keys to deactivate my shield laser. It's nice to know I was doing the right thing but just need to polish my targeting skills.

I also just figured out how to target specific parts of an enemy, I love this game.
