Sorry if this sounds dumb, but which programming language is Freelancer written in?

I've heard it's written in C++ (whatever that is)

it's hardcoded so unless anyone can crack it, then it cannot be changed.

opensp mods i think have managed to crack the common.dll and partially the .exe, but i think that really it's just hex editing (changing the binary itself, check the limit breaking 101 thread to see how)
