Popular mods

I have attempted to browse the mod listings with little success. The downloads list from the main page is simply too large to easily find what I am looking for. Likewise, the Mod List on the Mod Announcement section does not seem to follow any sort of logic. With no means of judging a mod's popularity, I resort to the frequent forumgoers.

I very much enjoyed Freelancer. I'd like to continue to enjoy it, but after having explored the unknown systems and gotten the 'best' ships, there is little else to do. So, what sort of popular mods might expand the playability? I am most interested in single player mods, preferably ones which add or change the original campaign's storyline, add new ships and weapons, and add new systems and points of interest. I'm not really interested in starting on a persistent world server, if they even exist, as I can imagine the only replayability offered is PvP and merchandising (do correct me if I am wrong). One good example of what I am looking for is Requiem, despite its multiplayer-only nature, but if there are other mods with a similar scope, they could suffice.

I should probably note that, while I would prefer the above mentioned things, if there are really good mods with good player feedback that do not fit my preferences, I'm willing to try anything once.

My thanks in advance for any feedback on the matter. If I missed some more list or succinct answer to my question, or more suitable area for my question, I apologize. It did not seem the editing forums had a suitable section for such a request, so I defaulted to the general.

It's kind of like apples and oranges. Both are good , but both are differnt. I prefet ship changes mods, ie Star Wars conversions mods, and differnt music mods. Trying to tag a "Best" is hard to do. You can judge a popular one, by the amount of downloads. Click on the mod in the download section, and it lists atthe bottom of that page, the number of downloads it has.

And, Welcome to TLR

Hi, I'm back to this forum after a long time. But just reloaded freelancer, and played a couple of mods which I had stored and played again. Are you looking for multiplayer or singleplayer mods? I generally used singleplayer. For that, I got to know many mods many didn't know because muliplayer is generally preferred. No problem with that, just the way it is.

I suggest Tie Mods to start. Louva Dous made some phenomenal mods for single player. I especially like 2.1. These are not new, but he did such a great job they need to be rehashed here.
