YAY

i figgered out a way to (slightly) balance out large ships i think!

if you delete the collision file, asteroids ect. won't hit it. and its invulnerability to missiles ect could be explained by triple hull like it calls the missouri. then again, that means that torpedoes become usesless, so you would need to replace them with an nrg weapon.

YAY NRG!

also, in some mods i have noticed capships shaking in cruise, what's that about?

The shaking at cruise i cropped up to the massive amounts of thrust that would be being released to more the ship, as opposed to a more refined and controled release on a fighter.

The fact that FL was never ever designed to handle a capship in cruise (indeed, it appears they are not even supposed to be able to enter it) probably has something to do with their shaking in cruise mode.

so nobody has any specific idea? because i thought i have played some where they didn't shake, maybe it was just me...

the shaking is because of the high mass of the battleship and the high force on the engines to move that mass

small ships have close to 0 mass (mostly 100 or 150) while big ships have such a high mass to simulate a realistic movement

the secret is to find a balance between the mass, the engine power, turning values and to avoid that the ship starts to spin when its hit by another object
