Does anyone else do this while playing?

I turn Freelancer's music off and the other sounds down.Then I either listen to internet radio stations(hard rock and talk radio) or listen to one of my hardcore CD's.Flying in a fight while listening to Rage Against the Machine's Killing in the Name is so much fun.Or AC/DC's Shoot to Thrill.You get the idea.Am I alone in this?

Yes.

Honestly, I can't stand playing games without their native sound. I've substituted in other background music for some games (i.e Age of Empires or Rise of Nations) but never for FL. The sound effects must stay no matter what, for me.

Well,to each their own.But after playing it through a hundred times,the soundtrack loses some of its appeal to me.I only turn down the sound effects though,not off.How else can I hear the cool sounds of my enemies screaming "I don't want to diiieee!!!" after I blow up their little ships?

i can't stand the FL music. lol i'd rather listen to old music then the FL music and thats sayin something lol

but then some games the music is pritty good. . . lol

Hey, i personally love FL's music and sounds, cant live without em, but i dont turn em down, i jsut turn the outside music up!! Since im in a primarily trading clan, we have long trade runs, meaning i sometimes listen to music, jsut depends on time of day and mood of myself. So normally its classical, [preferably Bethoven DCTalk, or Jazz.

I keep the original sound FX on and turn off the music

I instead...... listening to Enya and Charlotte Church... oh, Josh Groban does well too

Original FL music for me - some of the best game music I can think of tbh. For me the music isn't there to entertain at all, it's there to set a mood, feeling, scene - gives a feeling of expanse, and when approaching danger - a sense of forboding.

Just don't get that when crashing through to some heavy metal imo, so it ruins a dimension of the game (for me personally, others - obviously, have different perspectives!).
