It doesn't make any difference which mod you play. They are all the same. Tehy only vary in the number of new, senseless weapons, ships and systems.

Sorry for these hard words, but I remarked this in the last time. The new mods just compete in the total nnumber of new features. It's great that there are as much people who modifie FL (myself is doing this), but why does nobody make a mod with sense. I think there are enough people out there woh don't want thousands and thousand of new weapons, ships, factions and other things. They only want to have a few new balanced things which are connected by a interesting and reasonable background. This is my opinion.

Well most of the mods are what I would call "ship packs", but just upgraded to have weapons, equipment and systems. But you're right burzelmann, they all come down to the same.

Though I have to say some stand out from the pack. Freeworlds is a great example, featuring a nice plot (Star Wars, heh), and linked and realistic things together. There are many others which I just dont remember here (I haven't played that many, so I can't tell) which might have a similar concept. Total Conversions usually feature better plots with tightly linked ships/equipment/weapons, since they base off of an universe, they must have a plot in order to define what exactly is behind the mod, what is driving it. Tides of War is another upcoming Star Wars mod. And of course I must plug my own work in by adding Freelancer: Combat Evolved to the list, which is an upcoming Halo mod. I think I heard of a Battlestar Galactica mod too, but I can't tell for sure. There's also Warriors of the Sky, which is one hell of a Total Conversion, being that you now fly planes. And well... I can't come up with any other right now, but there are plenty.

I don't see why we wouldn't post before the moderators move the topic. Yes, it needs to be moved. But no, it should not refrain us from posting. But you are right, it does not belong to this forum.

I don't agree, i think there is room for different types of mods. If a modder want to spend their time creating that adds new places to go to, new groups to meet, new ships to fly, weapons and equipment then that isn't a bad thing.
It does need to be added in a way that the mod is balanced, but it dosen't have to be a total conversion with a completely new storyline if it is done well.
I do think that every mod that is made should be made in such a way that it is unique to the other mods around and should try to have as many new features as possible.

its your own personal preference there are mods which add systems if thats your thing, ships, bases, commodities even ones to make gameplay really hard if you want a challenge, everyone has there own "individual" favourite mod, mine is IC:TW but thats just because its like youve brought a new game lol

Ok yes you are right you cant know what i think is god and i maby dont like the mods you like..

But its tusends of mods that adds new ships.. Whits is the bigest that adds most new things, bases, ships, quests, systems?

Then i probely play the star wars mods.. Star wars ownes.

Well if you want a simple storyline Freelancer mod try my BigDaddy Storylinev1.2 out. It adds a lot of spice to the storyline and stays true to the story. There are no ships or weapons added that are out of place in the Freelancer Universe.

The answer to the question is easy.

Just go onto the multiplayer list and look at the most popular servers by player numbers, then visit the websites and decide which mod is best for you. If you want to play a single player make sure they offer a single player version of the mod before you download it.

once again i have to say that there is NO BEST MOD

you will have to find out what you want by having a look at the mods... just go to the LR download area... and search for mods that were downloaded very often.... then click on them and you will get a list of features... and the mod you like is the mod you should play
