Using a LAN to play FL?

I hope someone can help me.

I have just purchased a LAN card to play FL multiplayer games on my own computer. The thing is I can get FL to see the network card.

How do I need to set things up to be able to play multiplayer on my own PC with a network card that is not joined to another PC as I don`t have a second PC without having to connect to the net.

When I run the Network Setup Wizard it says my network card is diconnected and will be ingnored. Do I still need a network cable attached for it to work?

Hope above is clear.

Just to let everyone know Im running

Window XP Pro SP2 and the new LAN card is a D-Link DFE-530TX Fast Ethernet 10/100 Adapter.

I have looked at past posts on here about LAN problems and just can`t find a solution that works for me. Before anyone says it I don`t have TCP/IPv6 anywhere in the properties for the card so I can`t disable or delete it I only have TCP/IP.

I`m at a total lose here as I want to play Solurus System MOD which installs direct to the Freelancer folder using its own updater program. I can`t get the game to run in SP mode and I don`t like playing Multiplayer on-line so I throught I would buy the LAN card to play multiplayer on my own PC but its starting the look like thats not going to happen.

Please someone try to help before I pull all my hair out.

Okay heres my two cents:

First of all connect ALL the PC's you want to play FL on as a LAN
Switch all these PC's on
When thats done run the Home Network setup wizard
if a screen shows up stating you have disconnected hardware (and if that hardware IS your new card) you have set something up wrong. My recommendation is to get the latest drivers from your manufacturers website.
If the disconnected hardware is NOT your LAN and something else you dont wish to use, click ignore disconnected hardware at the bottom.
If the machine you are on now has the internet installed on it, you MUST click this machine is the one with internet all machines connect through me.
set your workgroup name as anything you want it to be, but it MUST be rembereable. for the purposes of this it will be MSHOME.
Turn file and print sharing on if you have a firewall (other than MS firewall which personally wouldnt even protect you from a n00b with knowledge of the ping command) if you dont have a firewall turn file sharing off to improve security.
then wait for the wizard to do its magic, then when it is done click the last option (do not run wizard on other machines).

Now repeat this process on all the other LAN machines (with the exception of instead of clicking all machines connect to the internet through me, click the one that says i connect to the internet through a residential gateway)

Restart everything and then hopefully that should set you on a winner. If not im sorry i couldnt help.

from what im reading you actually dont want to play FL with people on LAN, you want to play by yourself without the story line, if this is the case download the NoSP mods scattered about just about everywhere, also to make an FLServer of your own and be able to connect to it, you can just connect to the internet make your server, and then connect to it by the FL internet panel.

If the menu version is differnt that means FLserver version has to be the same as the mod version, some mods edit the FLserver and the EXE version to be differnt to pervent people from logging on and crashing their server. (becuase sometimes people log on to any server and not read the info)

You'll have to email the maker of the mod or somehow get the program Reshack and edit the FLserver yourself. Just open FLserver with the program, go to version and change the frist numbers under "version" the same as the mod.

If you're looking for something such as reshack the best way to find it is to search for it using the Google search on the front page.

The Google search is already set to search Lancers Reactor.
You can also search the entire web by clicking on search the web.
When I entered reshack it brought up 9 results for reshack of which a couple of those were a download here on Lancers Reactor that included the reshack program.
