I need help with Next Generation Hovis Race!

Help! I got The Next Generation v.2.65 and played it, but now I'm stuck with the race against Hovis as I can not clear all the gates in cruise thanks to the new physics engine and am having trouble finding a ship that can fly them all w/out missing. Also, I tried afterburning it but Hovis dissappears after the half-way mark. Please! HELP ME! Anyone with advice, please give me some!

Also does anyone know where the Hypergate to the Ancient's system is?

Dunno about next gen, but I figure it would work.. give hovis a dreadnaught.. then he cannot fit though the gate..so you can cruise around.. involves a little ini hacking but is not hard to do.. see the spoiler forum for details..

That won't work, TNG INI's are reencoded with bini and an entry that prevents most bini decoders from working correctly (returns a run time error, empty file, or garbage text). This is done as a cheat control so I doubt anyone will post the work around to it (just as people aren't allowed to post cloak mods).

To win the race you'll need to buy the fastest fighter you can find with the best thrusters available. Then use your thrusters instead of cruising. Check the TNG manual, I think it includes speeds for all ships, if not then check the TNG forums for tips on beating Hovis.

BTW, TNG doesn't have a new physics engine, they just retooled the physics values a little. Adding a new physics engine to FL is impossible at this point, it would require the source code and MS hasn't released it (yet, hopefully).

No idea, its been probably 10 months since I played TNG. Ask on their forums or search on the TLR spoiler forum.

if u got a response about ancients, pls post a message. about the race, take a tip: first third part is almost straight and make it cruising. then u better boost and use strafing to aquire the rings. stiletto is a good fast ship. my opinion. i had no trouble finishing. somewhere at 3-rd part hovis breaks out of the race, giving u some time. but it's not very intersting, u must run perfectly and try to not hit the rings. one ring hit and u better restart.

ps. search more tips in spoiler forum. u can find some useful stuff there.
