Question about weapons.

I play FS normally with a MOD of one sort or another and as you all know most MODS but not all add weapons or change the stat`s on the original weapons.

Now say you are at a base that sells lets say 3 different Class 5 Weapons which you can mount on you vessel. How do you know which one will give the maximum damage when fired?

Is the way I work it out correct?

Hull Damage x Refire Rate Per second = Damage per second to target.

So based on this I would always fit the weapon out of the 3 with the highest Damage per second. Is this correct or am I missing something.

I`m not really to bothered about recharge rates and energy used as the MODS I used have power boosters so the power levels can be kept up.
