A database for traders

Hi there. I have recently restored my Freelancer tradesite, Tradestuff, almost completely. I designed it is as a way to help all traders (both single- and multiplayer) in Freelancer. My server is a bit slow, though the site doesn't really use any graphics (except from the logo).

I'd like to hear your opinions about the site, and please also post any ideas or suggestions to help make the site better. Thanks!

By the way, I had to "restore" my site because I have lost all of my databases, and the restoration's mostly done now, except for the "pathfinder" function which highlighted a given path on the navmap, I will restore that probably sometime tomorrow (or the day after that). Thank you for your patience

Edit : The site finally moved to a proper host, which means all connection and speed problems should be gone!

So, what do you think?

This is bloody Cool!

A list of where to get and where to go? Very nice, saved to Favorites as I'm sure I'll be utilizing this- Any thought of a collaboration with the 1.30 team? As they have an expanded commodity base, it would certainly be useful there- along with every new player to FL in any version, imo.

Well Done!

Thanks for the compliment!
I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean by '1.30 team', as I was away from Freelancer for a while (though during the summer I'm sure I'll get back)
If you mean extra commodities from a mod, that's possible, but it'd be troublesome to include every single commodity in all mods, and also to let players choose which mod they're using (since there are a lot of mods). However, if it's important, it's definietly possible.

Ah- sorry about that, I meant the Evolutions 1.30 creative team at Pathfinder Studios- a mod, imo, that expands FL to what it should've been if the beancounters hadn't gotten nervous.

Does Evolution have new systems and bases? If no, I could relatively easily add it to the database, though it'd take some programming to make it user-selectable.
By the way: The pathfinder is now functional. I'll be expanding it with further features later on.

yes- it has new bases and systems- the total count, so I've been told, is 68 plus the 2 unknown systems, and an expanded variety of commodities

Oil, cardamined pets, tobacco, plutonium- haven't found 'em all as of yet...

Yeah, don't for get moving passengers. Civilians, refugees, “ejected pilots”, military officers, and even Nomads, all as commodities. I know a few trader clans that might find this very useful if you support Evolutions (Haven Enterprise in particular).

Good luck with it. I'm not active on the FL MP servers anymore so I don't have much to add.

Okay, I'll look into it as soon as I have some time.
By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned it yet, but the pathfinder is now functional.

Yup, you mentioned- Drool

Sorry, no updates yet. I still have to do a lot of stuff for school, unfortunately, but if all goes well, I'll finally get my freedom back tomorrow.

This site sounds like it'd be great, but it wont open for me. is it down? or something wrong on my PC?

Post Thu Jul 06, 2006 5:23 pm

Yes, unfortunately the site is down. The hard disk that stored the databases for the site is damaged, which is why you get the MySQL error (MySQL is the database engine).
Unfortunately I don't know how much time will it take to get the data back, or if it can be recovered at all. I will post here when/if the site is restored.

At about the same time as LancersReactor went down, my site went backup, and now that TLR is back up too, everything's fine again!
