I do not know how Xerx's bog standard open SP can cause a crash, or how my own SP lite causes one unless you tell me which option.

Methinks its most likely your save games folder. Try deleting them, because they always cause issues.

Location: My games/freelancer/accts - delete the folders in there and then activate whatever mod you like and try playing.

tryed uninstalling the game completely removed any saved games, and registery entires if any, removed mod manager and mods, added. removed the game folder.
and reinstalled completely
Last Hope v1.1 is the one i am on about.
tryed without open sp
still crashed.
then tryed with the one of the open sp,. still crashes.

and also any help u can give me for each error that is there thanks

heres a list of open sp mods i have

1) Open SP FuBi Edition
2) Open SP Lite
3) OpenSP MOD v1.1

You don't have to do a new install every time you use a different MOD but if Freelancer crashes then you know it's time to follow the steps listed...
Saved games will probably not be compatible after activating a MOD...you have to start a new game.

Instructions:

Some MOD's need a clean install of Freelancer...
Especially if you have used any MOD's before you need to do a clean install of Freelancer.
By clean I mean make sure you get a nice shinny new set of files.

1st... Delete your Freelancer folder.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
Delete your Freelancer folder instead of uninstalling Freelancer to make sure there are no files that sometimes can get left behind after an uninstall, unless you check to make sure there are no files left in any of the Freelancer folder after you do a uninstall...

2nd... Delete or move any previous saved games.
You have to start a new game.
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts
Singleplayer and Multiplayer folders.
Either move or delete any files you find in the folders.
If you don't move or delete your previous saved games and start a new game they can cause a conflict and will make Freelancer crash, guaranteed!

3rd... Install Freelancer from the CD.

4th... Install the Freelancer SDK v1.3
Some of the MOD's need the SDK files to be installed but it don't hurt to do it anyway...
The Freelancer SDK is set of files (over 1200) from the original game of Freelancer, it contains fixes for all the major errors in the original source. And since modders use it to make mods with it also fixes the errors caused from decompression using bini (the program that is use to convert the files to into text format).
The SDK is an exe file...just browse to your Freelancer folder and install the SDK in that folder.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
You can download the SDK v1.3 exe here.

If you don't follow all the steps above you will probably experience a crash or other problems.

5th... Then activate the MOD in the Mod Manager

6th... Have a blast.

For installing and activating/deactivating Mods use the Freelancer Mod Manager v1.31 - to download the Mod Manager click here.

To install a MOD into the Mod Manager double left click on the MOD file name that you want to install.
The Mod Manager interface will automatically unzip the MOD into the mods folder and the Mod Manager screen will pop up, click on the MOD that you want to use and then click on Activate. The Mod Manager will add/change the necessary files in Freelancer and then you're ready to play.

Found this topic occasionally. It's probably more related to modding stuff then to Freelancer General, so I think moderators should consider moving it.

There was another problem with SP mission reported in the latest version of Discovery, 4.77.1. Like this:

"...because I have discovered a bug in versions 4.73 – 4.77.1 in the single player missions? Mission 10 in particular, I am to take out the Experimental ships, but when I get close to them I get a Neural Net Log message saying, "I have fled the battle." One thing I have noticed during play, is that Von Clausin’s ship stays outside the mine field and doesn’t engage into battle, when in version 1.1 his ship actually charges right into battle and I can get right up close to my targets. So I am thinking that a trigger is not being set to cause that ship to go into battle. It also appears that ship is the central origin for that part of the mission. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?"

Strangely, I didn't change anything about the singleplayer missions, didn't even include those files into the mod. Open SP is not included (will be released as a stand-alone mod for 4.78). I think it may happen because cruise speed became 350... but I'm not sure.

And I know that many people completed singleplayer missions with Discovery activated - without any problems.

*Update*
The cause of problem was found, for my mod... but I'm sure that it may help with other mods too.

Posted by Macster, Discovery forums:

"Fault was found and file is included with this posting. It turns out that it was a timing issue. I had to add 2 more seconds before it did it's next task, otherwise Von Clausin's ship would not join the other ships for battle and the mission would go dead. I think it has something to do with the way the formations were setup in the mod that caused the problem. I noticed that the ships in the mod have a wider burth than the formations in the 1.0 which caused an additional delay to regroup at a certain spot. Hope this helps others with the same prob. Happy hunting..."
