Miller, most of those were covered in Mustang's topic header...

I have had some ideas. When you're on a planet, you can visit...5 places. I think you should be able to take control of your character. Maybe not like a full 3rd person adventure, but certainly you should be able to explore places on planets more fully. This would add an extra dimension to trading - a "back street" dealer might offer much better prices on equipment or illegal goods. But, you'd have to be careful getting them back to your ship.

I'd like the AI to "remember" you when you dock, and you'll get people who have been paid to doggedly pursue you as far as they can.

I'd like to be able to have a "garage" to store ships you're not using but have bought. A proficient player would set up a network of them, so he could jump in a different one if times dictate. Could also be useful in multiplayer - you can throw people off your trail if you've upset them

What I would absolutely LOVE is if the in game rumours were dynamic, and reflected happenings around Sirius. For example, if you save a convoy from a massive pirate attack, escort it to its destination and land with it, the people would be admiring your skill, and might even offer you discounts on repairs, goods etc. Or, you could bribe people in the bars and so forth in multiplayer to drop false hints about your whereabouts and send people who don't like you the wrong way

's all for now

Presuming two objects can overlap in FL(Not sure, but I think it is possible), you could have several planets occupy the same spot, with the docking rings facing in different directions. The largest planet would be the outside appearance of the whole works. You could then choose from however many docking rings there were.

Assuming that would work, of course. Not quite the same as walking around on the planet itself, but as close as FL could come.

This is exactly what I was thinking about all the time since I finished playing the original storyline. My idea is: to create (somehow ) a dynamical MP game that would look like an online game. Factions, with their leaders, politics, organised crime, trade and hunting pirates ... all with people. And chatting in the tradelane. It would be also great, (if possible), that a player will be able to send a message using microphone and HUD logo - the same way Juni, King and those did so.

What about including some more independent story elements for Freelancer 2 in SP? For example, a war between two or more factions which you can particiapte in by joining one Navy or the other, but which progresses regardless of whether you help or not. Other things you do can affect the outcome, but in each SP game you play the "war" could end differently.

The way I think of it is like two AI players playing Risk, or Diplomacy, with you having the option of becoming one of the pieces and influencing the outcome.

Also an option would be "careers" in different factions. You join up as a raw recruit and as you advance in rank (kills, mission completions, whatever) you gain rank and have greater control over the variables of your missions (formations, armaments, ships etc....)

You'd have to have a different piloting system for capital ships and fighters. I mean, has anyone played Klingon Academy, in that game you fly capitals like you'd fly fighters. Doesn't work. Also, ability to move around freely in bases and planets(ok maybe a small spaceport zone in planets)

Storyline for FL2 (here goes nothing):

Five years have past since the Freeport-7 incident, a hallmark in political encounters during these past years. Liberty had become the leader in the Siruis sector in technology and growth, surpassing Rheinland, and even the technologicallly advanced border worlds. Going beyond what was thought to be humanly possible, they even dabbed into the concet of anti-matter, and attempts at controlling black holes.

But, the Liberty scientists had advanced beyond their capabilities, and six days ago, emerging from the Alaska system came an obliterating blast with such force that only the Big Bang could have conceivably contained more energy (although that was exponentially bigger). A shockwave rippled throughout the Sirius sector and beyond, shaking and moivng ships, planets, stars, even entire systems. The Alaska and New York systems were obliterated, destroyed. California, Colorado, and Texas were all thrown far beyond their normal places, with their respective system construction destroyed.

Not a single system in the Sirius sector remained untouched, from Omicron Major to Theta, from Tau-37 to Omega-13, every system was affected. Even the fabric of space-time itself was disrupted, causing many more jumphole anomolaes to form than ever before, some staying open for as little as 20 nanoseconds, while others are yet to close up. New areas have been found, including the Lamba and Epsilon systems. And in the remaining Liberty systems, something strange has happened. New contacts have been discovered, ones that have never been seen before, and all who have gone to visit the former Liberty systems have never returned. Rumors have hit the veterans of the so-called Nomad wars say a great question may have just found an answer....

(the creators of the Nomads have even more (and recent) relics discovered in these new areas, thats what the story is, but this 'back cover summary' doesn't say so. That's what I'm opting for, but that last sentence could be removed, and we could just make it totally different.)

how about ( as an optional extra ) fuel ? i think it would an extra level of excitement and risk to things, if you went somewhere like omega 11, you would need enough batteries to survive, but also the fuel to escape the system. However, if you get stranded, you could call on a recovery ship to come and rescue you.

What about a multi-genre game. Sort of a Halo meets Freelancer thing. Supposedly Battlecruiser Millenium tried to do it, but I could never get the buggy thing to work.

Maybe as you advance in rank, within your clan, the game could change. A General does less flying and more directing forces and battlegroups. A raw recruit flies the grunt missions.

And how about factions (both computer and player factions) offering bounties on specific pilots (human and NPC)?

My idea of freelancer 2 is a big multiplayer permanent universe.
Mankind have to start again, from one known solar sistem. Players can do everithing other users said, and they could even colonize by themselves planets and asteroids.ONe of The main objectives is to find all the lost humans communities, and try to reintegrate them by diplomacy, culture or firepower.

My idea of FL 2 is the one here a few years later, you start out as a trader, and you are randomly picked as the guy to lead an expedition into a nebula that is highly radioactive. You venture in, and your comrades are destroyed by radiation. You are destroyed, but luckly you have an escape pod. You are picked up by aliens that live in the nebula that call themselves "Garlings", and live on a planet in the nebula. It adds at least 5 new alien factions, the Garlings, the Norcaroians, the Zorga (criminal), the Hogrogs (criminal), and the Kimioans. It should add many more factions that are human, and it adds the nebula and surronding area (the nebula is a system called Zilnor), plus earth and the solar system. Apparently the coalition and the alliance are still around, and are neutral. You can construct bases, but it takes a while and costs lots of credits. You can still find stragglers of nomads in the sirius sector. The campain systems are unlocked, and there will be several new systems. There will also be commodities that have uses (for example: escape pods), and bouty hunters and such that are trying to kill you for a bounty.

But that's just me.

I would like a bit more interesting mining operation...

And more missiontypes, not just "kill all rouges at this point" or "kill this guy" "blow up this station" "retrive this cargo"...

More like escort, recon (as mentioned) etc and so forth...

My FLII wishlist ("all I want for Christmas..." , it would be nice to:

1) Be able to set away some credits on a bank account (you don't take all your money whenever you go out do you?)
2) Allow multiple (group) players to share credits (from a joint account, thus forming a company or faction of your own...)
3) Be able to "order" a ship from a dealer (will cost you more if the vessel comes from a hostile base)
4) Be able to get a loan (bank from idea nr 1 OR from a loanshark you found in the bar) and when you don't repay your debt, your belongings will become property of the bank (or loanshark)
5) Have some form of "Las Vegas" in space, where you can bet your credits, cargo, ship, rank.
6) Make some sort of "Galaxy Bulletin Board" where players can make (trade) requests.

7) And last but not least, give me a free copy of FLII when it comes out...

I agree, there wont be a expansion either due to profitability. This seems like the Wing Commander Scenario, in the end a petition was used for that and no real victory.

I think Microsoft needs to address its business model better. Convert the game to a true online multiplayer game. One that requires a monthly fee in which microsoft can host one server for everyone based on the current demand. They could introduce an expansion and insure that valid code from the original game is required to thus forcing true Free Lancer Players to commit to further purcahses and increase revenue on that end also.

My other thought was for Sony to buy out the game and introduce a online version since they seem to have alot of experience in this field.

Any ways, those our my thoughts. I personally would rather pay $10-$15 a month to play FreeLancer with a continue story line and expansions then having it end.

Also any one have any new news out on a possible expansion?

Personaly I think that the Idea of Pay-to-Play Online Multiplayer is a bad one, Not Everyone has a DSL or Cable, and Look at what happened with EA's "Earth & Byond" After 2 Years EA Abandoned it & Shut Down the Servers.

I still feel it is Important to have a good Single Player Game, and enhance/add onto it with a Unreal Tornament Style Server system (Have Only Official Servers to start off & Allow People to Run one of there own if they want.)

Personaly I think that Freelancer Has ENORMOUS Potental, but it unfortunitly faileed to take full advantage of it in Singleplayer (I havn't tried Multiplayer yet)
The Singleplayer story Hyped you up with an Enormus Adrinalene Rush, Then Left you Drifting In a endless Nebula.

At the very Least, MS should have released a couple Expansion Packs to Extend the story a little.

Exploring is Intresting, But Increadably Boring 90% of the time, Flying between Spaceports, Territory's, doing some Repetitive Traiding/Merc work or Flying Across Vast Expanses of.....Nonthingness, Tends to leave you a bit Restless or outright Bored to Death...

My thoughts, MS should Make & Release some Good Singleplayer Story Expansion Packs while they work on a Sequil.
(nothing realy needs done to the universe/maps for only an expansion.)

Take an Example of that kind of practice from various Other Highly Sucsessfull Games Companys Like; EA (BF1942), Blizzard (Warcraft), Bethesda Softworks (The Elder Scrolls/Morrowind) etc.

Either Way, I'm very Anxious for Freelancer Sequil
