FIX: for game stability, some sound errors, and loading spee

The Freelancer SDK was developed for mod makers with the sole purpose of eliminating errors in the original source so mods can start with a clean slate. Due to the error elimination it also fixes many problems that make Freelancer unstable, it also fixes minor errors like sound jitters and loading speed.

If you are having problems with the game or would just like to tweak it for maximum performance then try installing this SDK over your Freelancer DATA folder, you may see a big difference and you might not notice anything but its worth a shot. Enjoy yourself freelancer!

louva;

before i try this want to know if this is ok.

1. unload all mods

2. backup saved games

3. start the executable, (is this it or does the exec only unzip the files) ?
does the exec prompt for a directory and if so where should the files go ?

- sorry for the noob question, just making sure i dont s#$% up.

Deactivate all mods first and you can backup your account files if you want. Then simply run the installer and tell it where to put the files.

- wow - this is great. it's much faster, no more pauses, or almost none.

i have reset my audio device back to full acceleration and sample rate no
problems.

- is it me everything looks much more detailed, the textures dont look mushy.

- i am using real space v2, this combo corrects every shortfall of the
original.

- I would encourage everyone to give it a try.

- thanks very much louva. are you one of the original coders?

- besides code corrections and using different file types were there any
other changes made ? added textures ? did the game always have a
prompt for resolution i dont rember seeing it before.

- well thanks again. look forward to future updates.

louva;

i was wondering if you were on the fl team, but after furthur reading i see you
were not.

I am still having a problem going into the tau-31 system, fl crashes to the
desktop and is not running in the background. dont know if this is a known
issue or a memory problem on my system only have 256mb. vid card is a
raydon 9500 pro. the problem only seems to happen why trying to get into
the tau-31 system. it crashes just as the loading screen comes up during the
jump gate or hole sequence.

Yup, this should be in the Freelancer Technical Forum. You can't move it though, a mod will have to do it.

Now that its in the right forum hopefully we will get more confirmations of the usefulness of the sdk as a game patch.
