Quick-FAQ - 5/23/2006

I have a problem!
Please update to the latest version of Freelancer Explorer to see if that solves your problem.

FLE crashes and I don't know why!
Please use the reporting feature so we can try to isolate the problem and fix it. If that does not work try our Contact Form. Be as descriptive as possible about what you were doing at the time of the crash so that we can help you.UPDATED!!

My infocards don't work right
We recommend that you use FLED-IDS to edit your infocards, Freelancer Explorer only allows infocard and name additions to make system making easier but it is not designed for extensive work with infocards.

How do I add jumpholes/gates?
You can do this from view mode through the traditional right-click method or in edit mode via the jumphole/gate button on the sidebar.

1 thing that would be nice, is a better Help file, ie 1 that explains what each function does, not just tell you how to use it but to better explain on what that function will actually do

also, a Faction editor part, ie allow a person to make factions from within FLE itself, also the ability to incorporate other mods into 1 mod. for example if a person wanted to add BattleShip encounters, he could tell FLE to Import the data from that mod, then it be upto the person using it to then give credit to the person/persons who made that particular mod.

thats about it for now

Cheers

Maybe Im just missing something, but every time I make any sort of field it shows up as a debris field in the nav map. Is this a glitch in explorer? or something Im supposed to edit by hand in the .ini's?

i cant even get it on my server. i dont no why
does anyone no how to make a new faction?

Wow, very nice work!

i know how much work it was to build this amazing tool ;-)

if you could add a load function for new encounter files, i can use it to build dynamic encounters on my server.
This Programm is the best Fl Tool i have seen for month's.

I am normaly only interessted in Serverside Mods, but now i can add some Systems by my own without learning the modding internals for systems/bases and so on. thx a lot!

@Affliction - There are several functions in this program that let you create something new based on already existing items. With fields, whatever original field you select that is how it will look in the system until you change it outside of the program. The same happens with room setups for stations, it uses an already existing item in the game as a template to create the new station. After you add them you will need to manually change them to the way you want them.

Hi Guyz,
FLE is an EXCELLENT programme for newbie modders but I have a prob here. Whenever i try to apply changes or save a mod, i receive this error "cannot find C:\TEMP" and after that when i restart FLE, the names of all bases, planets, jumpgates/holes, even the system itself dissapears. On top of that, FL will quit suddenly when i try to access any newly created system.

I had an error with the program, basicaly when i tried to add a base or docking ring in my newly created system the program crashed after i had made the selections for it (archetype, etc.)... have any idea why?

I meant on the Nav map itself. They fields themselves show up as what I select (mostly corcovado field from Cortez) but on the Nav map it shows them and all other kinds of fields as debris fields. I thought it had to do with fog color, but that didnt seem to change it. I couldnt find anything in the .ini files that might be the key to it either. its not really that important, it would just be nice to fix.
I love the program by the way, and Im glad that some are continuing to update it.

i get a error when i run the program "can not run Unicode version of atl71.dll on windows 95, windows 98 or me
Please install the ansi version

but where can i find the ansi version

Post Tue Nov 25, 2003 5:53 pm

No offense intended, but i think there needs to be clearer stipulation upon who made this program. I have read about three posts now that have the wrong end of the stick, which just isn't fair. Nothing has been changed to it as of yet (as far as i can see that is.....)

Also - would be nice if you got a sticky, as the explorer is the second most useful and sort after tool. (first being FLMM of course - ) ask someone for one!!

@Affliction - That is what I was talking about.

@dubois - Due to an oversight on my part I failed to notice that there were multiple versions of the atl71.dll file included with this program. In the folder where you installed the program you will find a folder named ANSI_FOR_WIN98 which contains the correct version of the dll for users running windows 9x, just copy that file over the one in the program folder.

@Chips - I thought it was clear before when I announced that we had officially taken over its development but just to make things clear I will re-iterate the situation.

Version 1.10.26.0 of Freelancer Explorer was created and released by Shsan who is the author and originator of this program. Recently Shsan passed on development of this software to Mephit, one of the programmers from the group =EOA= Players Consortium. All future releases will be made by Mephit, and to him all questions and problems should be directed.

Since this program has never been released on TLR before I felt it was long past time to do so. However please note that there are no improvements to this program from Shsan's last release. We will offer what little support we can for this version but that is limited to our understanding of how it works. This of course will not be the case in future versions released by us.

Right now we are consolidating the program and preparing it for refit. It has already been converted from VC7 to VC6 to make things easier we hope in the long run. We are committed to seeing this project succeed as a highly useful tool for the community.
