Has anyone managed to find a 2nd hand ship useful?

I really like the concept of 2nd hand and refurbished ships and components, but so far upon using this mod I have come across several 2nd-hand ships which on the surface look like a good deal for the lower levels when you start, but honestly they're so pathetic you can't use them. I tried upgrading some of the components, but they're so expensive and I didn't see much difference in them. I am new to the mod, so maybe I'm just not understanding all the cool choices Chips has put in the game. But so far I don't see the point of 2nd-hand except as maybe a used-spaceship salesman joke.

By the way I haven't seen everything in the game, but I can tell I'm going to like getting to the higher levels The only thing I notice I liked from another mod I tried that I haven't seen (yet) are battleship encounters. But Chips you made a great one and your attention to detail demonstrates your skill and planning of this mod!

Thanks for your hard work, Chips the former contender of the Duel of Assumptions!

Some of the second hand ships are useful very early on, but most people go ahead and buy a Rhino instead when they get enough money for one.

I think the whole point of the 2nd hand ships is just to give experts a challenge. Ever tried heading into the Border Worlds with the crappest rig you can muster?

LOL - second hand ships also have larger cargo bays. I had to make them crap enough that people wouldn't just fly them - so some mounts got reduced, some removed, and they carry fewer nano bots and shield bats......but you can upgrade the ships to a better level of equipment without too much trouble (well, u can now) and that means you can have an eagle for alot less than normal..........just don't be expecting to win against the non-cheapskate version of the eagle

Ok, there may be some use, because of the larger cargo bays. But for instance, on Battleship Missouri there is a 2nd hand Dragon & a Banshee. Where do I find and how much are upgrades for these to make them even somewhat respectable for doing missions?

On junkers bases for the main part. They have all second hand equipment

I use the 2nd hand Eagle to start down the ‘missions to gain personal wealth route’, its a bargin.
