Pre-release Poll: Space backdrops?

Hey guys, I am starting this thread to ask this question before the mod is released:
Do you prefer having the Darkspace backdrops to the systems (no colors, no nebulae, just black with a couple of phenomena and some stars) OR do you like the original Freelancer backrounds (with colors and other pretty space features)?

I personally prefer the originals - the plain ol' black ones are just very boring and non-descript, in my opinion, but before I go and put all the original ones back in there, I want to see how everyone feels.
I guess we can do whatever we come to as a group/majority ...? Sound like a plan?
Thanks, guys.
Just post your thoughts, ideas, and feelings here.

.

I prefer the originals. It creates a variety of backgrounds. Darkfield is no fun either to fly in or play in consistantly.

i have to copy this like from shaman "I prefer the originals. It creates a variety of backgrounds" it does look better and creats more of a reality i think. i do know that in the real world because of no atmospher that you can see colors tho. however in game reality its alot better.

but ro9ue, cant you make a addon or something for the people who dont want the colors? jw i know this means more work for you.

Well, if I can figure out how to make batch files, I can make it an option to either disable or enable the color backdrops or the Darkspace ones.
The only thing is is that this will increase the mod size dramatically (by probably 10-20 megs at least), so I don't know if it's worth it. But if most people want colors back, I can make the mod that way ... Unless some people really don't want the colored backdrops back, I think most people like the originals better anyway - just specualtion on my part, of course, but that's the way I feel
Anyone else have a strong yea/nay to this?

Heya people,

My personal feeling is to go with the originals, and if people want to go back to the dark ones, maybe one of us could create a patch to reimplement the dark ones. Using an FLmod file makes far more sense to me than trying to use a batch file. For one thing, the FLmod files are safer, FLMM automatically backs everything up. So, if you have something strange happen, you can remove the sub-mod (what I'm choosing to call the darkness patch), then be back running like a champ (please excuse the goofy cliche').

Matter of fact, it may be possible to use the old darkness mod with Rebal 3.5 final, since that is what was integrated into it in the first place. We'd simply be removing it, and giving you the option to apply it yourself. But, I guess we'd need to test that and make sure my theory holds water, before recommending that route.

Anyway, this is all just my 2 cents, spend it as you will

Some say ignorance is bliss, I say they're just too blissful to know better.

A plain black would be nice, similar to Freespace type

my vote, leave the originals, just leave it able to run w/ realspace lite. that way both could be satisified.
