A way overrated mod.

I think this MOD is way overrated and over hyped. It is a good MOD but I personally think that WTS world IS MUCH BETTER. The ships are awesome in thatand there is a HUGE amount of ships. This has what 84? WTS has 104 and is always a different experience in a different ship.

Sory to rain on your parade but you're overrating the WTS-MOD. Rebalance 3.30 has curently over 120 ships, all re-configured by hand by myself to offer the best in-game experience. They all have specific maneuvrability, armor ratings, extra equipmeny like armor, powerplant and engine upgrades, shield capacitors, power injectors and shield powercells. It also has much more weapons, for almost every faction and house, special capital ships, each with their specific weapons and so on. Each SW ship for example have its own engines sounds and graphics effects matching the originals from the movies, and specific weapons from SW as well. The TIE's even have SW-style cockpits.
Rebalance 3.40 will benefit from a re-skinned ship Pack from Augur containing of 12 ships, from Light Fighters like the Halycon to HF's like the Gaijin or Mauler and the Behemoth, a ship that you will never see anywhere too soon. It will also have my own SW ship pack consisting of over 12 ships. Check the pictures of some new ship i've just made, it's a train-style cargo hauler from SW, a Container Transport, a Corellian Falcon style freighter, the Muurian Transport, and several fighters.
Besides the new Rebalance 3.40 will have some specific shape-to-handle maneuvrability configs for ALL ships. This means that if a ship is longer and less wide will have a better roll and a poor pitch, while a wide ship will have better pitch and less roll. Each one will have unique handling characterstics.
So try yo play Rebalance first and you'll think again about the fact's that's "over-rated".

@MD

Rebalance 3.30 is an excellent mod with a good selection of ships and weapons,It will be even better with the new ship packs in 3.40. So any ballpark idea when 3.40 will be released? WTS 1-2 is also an excellent mod, both are well balanced with ships and weapons. Neither one is better then the other in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents

Are you going to address the crash bugs in Multiplayer, MD? I notice you don't reply to my posts that contain symptoms and duplicatable instances. Have you even looked at the Gallofree Freighter to find where the crash error is (caused by undocking from random stations)?

Also found another bug with the Millenium Falcon II.. check it as well. That one is a bug in the info card (i think).

I like the mod and hope it continues to grow... I would also run a dedicated internet server if I didn't have to restart it every few minutes. it's bad enough having to restart the server for the guys on my LAN.. at least they tell me when it's crashed!

I will do what i can and all i can about the crash bugs in MP, Eonorm. I already found and fixed the bug caused by buying some commodities from Earth, and i'm gonna make a scripted menu for the next versions proposing different levels of encounter density in the EFA system and Edge worlds: High, medium, low and none. In this way server admins will be able to set the level that is not causing too much lag or random crashes.
The scripted menu will also allow the player to modify the difficulty levels and the presence or absence of the cutscenes in the game.

Hey, MD, will the Border Wolrd XR Series ships be in v3.40? just curious

And is the SF Dragon (the light fighter/interceptor from Freespace 2) in v3.30? Because I see it in the ship list using Hellfire's Data Storm 3.9, but it isn't listed for sale @ any planets or bases. Same thing w/ SF Nephilim.
Thanks

The Border Worlds XR will remain in v.3.40. I did a check a few days ago with Datastorm 3.8 and re-distributed most of the ships that were in the mod but were not sold anywhere. Among them the SF Dragon and the SB nephilim, which both will be sold on Shinjuku Station in New Tokyo...

Ah, ok, thanks. I love the XR series!
And is it possible to make at least the Dragon really manueverable (say, kinda like the Ghost or maybe Patriot) since that IS how it flew in the origianl game?
I just tried out the Manticore, and I was a little disappointed with its handling, so I was wondering if the Dragon might be improved.
(If this is too much trouble, i understand)
Thank you

I have played it on my other comp and I didnt like it. But I cant even play it on my better computer it crashes every time I go to play it. Also dont say install SDk or anyhting obvious because I am not a n00b I am a MODer and I know how to install mods

Post Sun Mar 07, 2004 12:18 pm

lol even on my old rig it still runs smooth even if there are 34 High polly Bs's flying around

Hmmm... you claim your no newb, yet you must not know much about computers... or you have some big problems with yours. I have a amd 2300+ and an old 800 pentium celeron (thats old) with onboard crappy video. And still no crashes. If you know how to use your computer efficiently and correctly you will be amazed what you can get by with. Servers DO crash for a few reasons and if you look around the forums then you can see its all been said before so I am not wasting my time explaining it to you again. But if Freelancer itself is crashing then you are doing something wrong. Every person that has made such claims so far have later relized they made a mistake somewhere that caused problems, and if your intelligent then you too will figure out your problems I hope. In any case theres no reason to flame the mod for your incompitence... and I say that with all due respect ofcourse. This mod like all mods still has a few bugs but it is being worked out and will one day be flawless. If you really know as much as you say and you have looked into the details of what this mod accomplishes, then you would know that there are many details and areas of moding that are not employed by other mods out today, and are still in infancy of experimental stage. Sure you could make a mod and take a whole year or more to release a flawless version, but then the fans forget all about it. Those of us that enjoy the mod would rather play a bugged version in the mean time while the project progresses all along. Not to mention the feedback in this method is much greater than the beta testing methods because so many people play and post problems. (not that beta testing is bad, its good as well) Anyways, we already are fully aware of the imperfections in this mod and only newbs post problems that have already been posted three or more times. No one says this is the BEST mod, its ion the eye of the beholder ofcourse, and no one claims its perfect, but to say that it is a bad mod altogether is boulderdash! You need to think before you make such judgements. After all, your no newb... remember!?

Personally, I am very thankful to the people that created the Rebalance Mod!

Firstly, I have no time to play on servers, so for me any good mod that has single player available, especially Open SP (and the possibility to choose level of difficulty) is very welcome.

Secondly, indeed, every ship in this mod has unique behavior, it is such a fun to explore and experiment. I have currently 7 different saved games (with different ships) and I am going to complete the game with all of them, just to experience fully the different "characters" of the ships.
And I have not started playing with the cap ships yet!
The non-cut option is VERY USEFULL too.

I believe that comparison between different mods is kind of useless, I am sure that all the creators did their best for theirs and ours pleasure!
Thanks to all of you, people, keep going the good work!
