adding weapons

I was wondering (I'm new to using other's peoples mods) if you are supposed to edit them your self. Of course this would only be for single player because when you do it on multiplayer it's called CHEATING! and is A) Annoying. B ) Unfair and C) Unsporting.
Anyway I absolutely love TNG 2.7.6 but I thought that it could use a light sniper cannon. (Something around 500 damage, fire rate of 0.5 per sec., and limited ammo)
So in short I was wondering if "modding a Mod" was allowed.

Tal, I'm very sorry it's taken this long to respond. Many personal issues have kept me off the boards. I hope you see this and haven't given up on this issue.

Simple rule is that for personal use on your own system, you can play with the mods all you want. What I have to empasize is that you can not bring the modded mod (that's a mouthful) online and setup a server for it. For personal use for single player, hey, go for it. You may wish to contact the original mod maker and let them know if your experiments have worked, and they may want you on their team.

So, to answer your question, for your own private use, the coding is yours to play with on others mods. Just don't ever publicize this without giving credit to the original modders. Also, don't bring this online until you get full permisssion from the original mod makers.
