Also please read the readme.txt file - TNG 1.7 MANUAL

SERVER OPERATORS: You will need to do a player-wipe. There have been several changes that make existing players non-compatible.

If there is a " infront of the directory when installing TNG 1.7, REMOVE IT. Ex. ( "c: )

1.7 changes a number of things concerning gameplay. We've also fixed a number of bugs. By far we have made the mod much harder due to complaints about it being to easy. The battlestation missions have especially been made deadly so that groups are now more or less required to do them in order to survive. It IS possible to solo one, if you have about 30-45 min to spare for 1 mission and are very careful. Those that think Battleships will save them will find themselves in a middle of a meat grinder.

Changelog:

- Fixed the problem with Dark Shard offering missions against it's own kind
- Redid all fighters manuverability to put it on par with the original ships
- Got rid of almost all console errors (see known issues below)
- All shadow ships no longer have counter measures or mines
- Fighters may no longer use battleship reactors nor shields
- All shadow ships had thier power reduced significantly
- Added Inner System Warp Drive for capital ships only
- Ammo can be bought at all stations without faction
- Added countermeasures and mine to the profiteer
- Removed countermeasure and mine from cargo1
- All ship prices have been drastically increased
- Removed hull upgrades due to server crashes
- Increased the manuverability of the gunboats
- Missions payout has been increased by a little
- Introduced the stackable upgrade concept
- station turret damage has been increased
- Removed all engine upgrades from game
- Battlestation missions are MUCH deadlier
- Station turret range has been increased
- Thruster prices and stats have changed
- The Starviper is no longer invulnerable
- Fixed trader paradise docking problem
- Added Stackable Shield Enchancers
- Added Stackable Power Enchancers
- Gunboats can use the new addons
- Added a few lights to the profiteer
- Added Stackable Assult Barriers

The new version sounds great. But I have a few things

"Removed all engine upgrades from game"

Why did you remove the engine upgrades? I thought it was great going at 303 with my thursters on. I could outrun any ship in the game. It adds a bit realizm to FL

"Fighters may no longer use battleship reactors nor shields"

This I can see makes sence. But will there be like a special drop only reactor thats as large as the battleship one?

"Removed hull upgrades due to server crashes"

Is there a way to make them work on MP?

How does the jump drive work? In game I mean, not code-wise.

The engine upgrades were removed before 1.7, except from the npc's. This will not effect players in anyway.

I've actually made thrusters go 500 instead of 400...however I can reverse it, if you want. I'm sure someone would like me to nerf it.

As for the reactor upgrade. Read the readme. I am tired of repeating this. For all the idiots that liked to use battleship reactors, the Advanced Power Upgrade in the nexus HAS THE SAME POWER AS THE BATTLESHIP AND YOU CAN BUY IT.

There is also a prototype reactor drop this is even better then the advanced upgrade and can be used on any ship, including battleships.

LOL I have to laugh at the idiots who do exploits when they could buy what they want HAHA.

Hull upgrades won't work. If someone figures out who to actually make them work and not make the server crash, more power to them.

Bri Dog:

You use the ISW as you would a thruster except with MUCH more care. Collisions are fatal. You have to take care to AIM for your target before using it, otherwise you will miss it.

"The engine upgrades were removed before 1.7, except from the npc's. This will not effect players in anyway." That dosn't make any sence.

And I have not played 1.7 as of yet, and I am insulted that you would call me an idiot because I havn't played your upgrade.

Is there a reason that ships cost so much? It's like everything costs at lease a mil.

Post Mon Oct 20, 2003 1:04 am

well got to say one thing i like the Mod is works really good and i havent had it crash on me yet in the 1 full day i have played it. but in the next verson can you expand the levels maybe to 100 or make stuff not cost so much it took me less then 2 hours to go from level 1 to 38 and make over 3 mil in just droped cargo (gun's shield's and stuff).
the ship prices are ok could have a more of a difference in prices going from $4000 fighter to a 1.2 mil is a littel steep. might want to add more cheaper ones. is there any way in the next version will NPC's pilot the new craft or will they be just player only.

You guys should put the original weapons back in the game, give us more of a variety to choose from.

wolfman:

Taking less then 2 hours to get 3 mill is a long time? Sorry TNG is not an instant gratification mod. If it was it wouldnt last very long because people would get bored silly. Why do you think the original freelancer died? Lack of re-playability.

We got tons of complaints the game was way to easy and people got bored so we made it harder. Your more likely to spend more time playing something that is hard to beat then something you can do in an hour and then do nothing.

If you want instant gratification you can play rebalance. You'll be maxed in a few hours then be bored out of your mind with nothing to do. Sounds like fun....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bridog:

There are over 250 new weapons, that isn't enough of a choice? All the original weapons ARE in the game...as are the original ships.

The old guns are still there? Were? I know the old ships are in Ringworld, but the guns?

What I meant really is that the planets/stations need more weaps than the pulverizer or demolisher or whatever.

ooops might have worded that wrong a little what i was meaning was that it was too easy to get money and level. first mission was to make 1900 and i was level 7 i think i went to level 27 by the time i was done with that mission. i hit level 38 before i was able to buy a new ship but i had nomad weapons prototype shields cray cannons they just seen to drop too common.
