A call for help from the community

We need help tracking down whoever made the hoax email. it has escalated far beyond a simple hoax. Reynen has started recieving death threats over the phone. I can't believe someone would do this...

If anyone has any information please email it to one or all of the team members.

Thanks.

I wonder how Microsoft would respond to this hoax also. Their name has been tainted in some ways. I would be happy to see them track down that little bastard and shift their legal weight towards his ass.

Seriously - Reynen needs to contact police over the threats, its illegal to do that to anyone, so they will be prosecuted by the (in this country the crown prosectuction service if necessary) law without costing anything, it might not go down that route, but certainly the perpetrator will get a severe caution. Depends on several factors - how many phone calls, how often, the language etc etc.
Serioulsy - call the police. It might actually be harmless to you, but here is why i did this when i got called.

Like i said, this sicko wanted the girls number. I was sure he was spouting off, but if in months to come i read that she had been raped, attacked etc by the freak i would never forgiven myslef. So - i called the police, gave statements and also told the girl in the best way possible to warn her. Of course, she was scared for a short while, but there was no way i was letting this idiot go without alerting anyone.

How does it compare? The chances are Reynen isn't in threat, but the person who made the threats MIGHT do it to someone else at a later date. NOT good - so you should report it EVEN though as he/she might later affect someone else.

Chips is right.

Death threats are subject to criminal prosecution in the USA as well. You also can enlist the help of the phone company to track who is calling you but you need to get "official" about it and get the police involved.

So, yeah, this means that you have to escalate the situation and inconvenience yourself. But if you want to get the b$#@!%&, that's what you have to do if you want to do it inside the law.

@Bob the Dog: You may receive a lot of crank tips so be very very careful on what you do with the tips that you get or you may end up on the wrong end of the law yourself.

of course, but good advice, Indylancer.

yeah we'd all like to get the police involved, but that's entirely up to Rey at this point. now if they start calling me, they're going down.

I have an aquaintance that works for Microsoft (not a friend per se, so no, I can NOT get you a job!) and from what he knows, Microsoft is tickled pink that people are modding any of thier games. They hope that the mod community extends the life of FL like CS and DOD extended the life of Half-Life.
