Read this before reporting a bug

Ok, now, I am here to help you guys, BUT I don't see the point if some people don't even BOTHER to read the readme before they give off a question!!

Q. Where is a battlesship that I can buy??
A. Read the Readme...

The Readme has alot of info about bugs and such. READ IT!!

and its not just things like that.

People saying they have seen and found Bugs, but its actually them not looking.

If you think you found one out then check:

*Check several times if it was just co-indicidentle!
*If you have no other mods activated. If you do, don't even bother reporting it. You can check if the same problem without any other mods activated.
*If it happens again and again, check that you have to most recent version!
*If you HAVE the latest version, check if the bugs been reported before!
*If it hasn't tell us, but include this info:

1. Where you were when it happened
2. What you were doing
3. What ship you had

This is kinda also said in the Readme, but T-H-I-N-K before you talk.

Post Tue Sep 09, 2003 12:49 pm

Yes. I am actually abit fed up of those people. But I just want to add this as well:

(This is from Reynen. He wrote it on www.planetirg.net, but I'm writing it here as well so its easier to read):

From now one when bug reporting LIST THE FOLLOWING:

Version of TNG:
OS you are using:
Service pack version:
DX Version:
SP or MP?
Cpu:
Ram:
Video Card:
Server you were playing on:

If I do not see the above listed I will disregard the post. I NEED GOOD INFORMATION TO TRACK DOWN BUGS.

We mean it. It also just makes it waaay easier.

This should indeed be made a Sticky, but I want to suggest to change the topic name.

PLEASE don't disregard this. I have encountered a bug where when you launch from Fort Bush the sound stops working ( Out of game too) and you must restart to fix.

Info:

SP
Pentium 3 Processor
Ship: Starviper
Base: Fort Bush
I don't know other information, let me know if you HAVE to have it. I don't have the sound card right now, but I will have it soon.

Thanks,

@ConLight
I had the same problem. I realized it was due to a no-cd crack I was using. The mod alters the Freelancer.exe file. If you re-enable the crack after loading the mod, it doesn't know you have 1.70 and will not allow you to connect. Once I found the cd (I play a LOT of games and hate being bothered with changing CD's) all was sorted.
Good mod, too. I like the new intro music.
And while we are on the subject of altering the exe file...
I would hope Micro$oft doesn't come down on your enterprise because you tinkered with the executible code of a copyrighted game. Sure, I used a crack, but only for convienience. And it could not be traced back to an individual, either. No, I am not a lawyer , just a "concerned user"!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy...
