Change Request in TNG 2.0

Although I think TNG 1.60 was very good,
I would like some changes in TNG 2.0...

1. I think the black hole (which is always beside me) is annoying. B-)
2. Battleships don't fit in the trade lanes...
3. The red starflier looks ugly to me... (no offense )
4. The capital ships don't appear on the circle thing in the center of the screen.

Alright, That's all. I wish you could change these things...

FOR RHEINLAND...!

I think you have made a valid point there. And I think the thing with the tradelane can be fixed!!

Ok, now:

Till now:

1. The whole point of the Black Hole is so you can get to the Nexus System and that the entrance to the Nexus System is EASILY Visable!!

2. To the Tradelanes, unforunatly, it can't really be done!!

3. What do you want it to be changed to?? If you say you don't like it, and why, then tell us what it SHOULD look like!!

4. Sorry, can't be done

1) It would ease a lot of stomachs if the wormhole vortex effects rotated about half as fast as they do right now. At their current high-speed, it IS rather annoying to look at, mainly cuz its so distracting.

1a) You know that effect from the intro with the big yellow thing with the swirls around it with the planet of storms and lava and battleships flying around? THAT SWIRLY THING SHOULD BE THE NEXUS WORMHOLE EFFECT!!!! Either that, or use the sparkling flarey blue shiny thing from the kusari music FL intro either to replace the big black wormhole casing or to sit inside it. (you know which sparkly thing I mean.)

Post Mon Sep 08, 2003 10:15 pm

Its a black hole! It has to be black The effect is no doubt dificult at best to manufacture, and it DOES resemble a steriotypical black hole accretion disc, but I must admit it can be anoying

Who are you and why are you reading my quote?

INTERNAL Nexus Related Requests and Observations
2) The nexus music will drive me nuts after a while, especially since it uses the "awe" music which is silly because the Nexus has absolutely nothing to be in awe about. Yet. It's so big and spread out in there, that the battleships look unimpressive; there is virtually nothing to compare them against.

3) it makes no sense to say that Ageira Technologies, the sole provider of Trade Lanes in all of Sirius, would knowingly give away a Trade Lane to the Xenos, who they hate. LOL. Make more sense to have in Dark Shard's infocard that Dark Shard was once a research station for some cloud anomaly but was attacked by and commandeered by xenos...due to the station's location the [faction that once owned it could not afford to risk taking the station back blah blah blah blah blah.

Ahh heck, a picture IS indeed worth a thousand words. (made with MS Paint and Paint Shop Pro...no need for super high tech, the idea's what countz )

just an idea, im not demanding anything just thought id provide my ideas for you ppl.

one more thing: give us lots of incentive for players to actually leave the Nexus! Remove some of the goodies from the Nexus if you have to, or make certain ships or something good only available in the furthest of locations...right now, no one ever leaves the nexus at all unless they are trading or they need money by killing tons of NPCs. We're all becoming Nexus potatoes. LOL.

<disclaimer>To potential noobs out there who cant read: THIS MAP IS NOT CREATED BY STARFYRE STUDIOS. IT IS NOT AN INDICATION OF WHAT 2.0'S NEXUS WILL LOOK LIKE. It is a concept for Starfyre Studios to look at and nothing more.</disclaimer> B-)

That little unlabeled blue circle next to traders is a planet, i didnt name it. Thought Traders could use some nice scenery in its background...a big orange gas giant complete with a ring that goes through Traders would do the trick nicely...hehehe.

Notice I reversed, horizontally, the orientation of Freemans Base. This obviously allows for the trade lane to Hunter's Guild (which I renamed to Hunter's Guild HQ in this figure since I believe it deserves that notation). The nebula sizes are a bit exaggerated (as are the radiation zones) but I think its alright. The Labyrinth nebula would effectively be 100% sensorkilling. You wouldn't be able to see a damn thing on radar. Thus, the perfect stalking grounds for PVP. Navigation buoys and other landmarks could make it easier to find people.

Having a Jump Hole to the other nebula cloud eliminates the need for a new lane to Dark Shard

looks nice, but unfortunately there is a reason why the Nexus is sooo sparse:

It has waaay to much stuff in it. it has BattleShip encounters and tons of jumpgates... all of which take up massive resources... so if we add much more it may become unstable again...

I'll get Rey to take a look at this... I really like your idea... I've allways thought the Nexus was a bit sparse...

when flying a BS in Liberty space it looks far more impressive than it does in Nexus cos nexus is so spread out. moving Traders Paradise a little closer to end of the TL to it would help.

if uve seen Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the "Mutara Nebula" in which Kirk and Khan have the final epic starship battle is exactly what I envision the Labyrinth Nebula as: AS HAZARDOUS as possible without any asteroids in it. Tiny scattered spots of high radiation that you cant remember and avoid, large spots of low radiation, extremely little sensor function ANYWHERE inside (except small dissipated pockets in the nebula), lightning, lots of purple, orange, black, and blue swirly mists, varying/no visibility, etc. Basically, design it to make players get lost for those wonderful games of hide-and-seek-and-destroy that many players have fun with. Use exploding gas nearest the hypergate area to discourage people from entering the nebula through there ("sunlight makes the nebula gas go boom!" A few landmarks in the nebula, maybe an untargettable planet that is colored similar to the nebula and is in a low visibility region --- "Whats tha---AHHHH!" BOOM!

Regarding the nexus feature instabilities --- one problem might be the fact a lot of missions reference a "Sector 0F" which obviously doesnt exist anywhere...but it usually brings one to a sector far to the right of the hypergates (exactly where my proposed Labyrinth is...heh heh heh) -- also noted that some missions near Hunters Guild or other bases will place the Destroy Station mission objective objects right on top of the base you're launching from. Not good...

Hopefully, the concept of this layout will allow for more missions away from bases (read: missions in the "labyrinth" or whatever it might be called...)
