Sound problem with TNG 1.56

Small question:

I downloaded the TNG 1.55 mod and loaded it up in FLMM 1.2 and after that, I downloaded and installed the 1.56 patch as instructed. Now I have the following problem (I also have it while using 1.55 only); The game begins with the startup screen (Starfyre) and after that I hear nothing, but I can see the new background. When I click my mouse, then the sound comes on and the cursor can move. But that´s not the biggest problem. The big problem is when I start a new game, the sound is really strange. I mean, you can see the destruction of Freeport 7, but no explosion sound ! After that (the Manhattan sequence), the sound goes off entirely. When the intro is over, the sound is back on, but now some things just don´t work, like for instance when you click the ´news´.... No sound of the TV whatsoever.

Can someone tell me what I did wrong ? Or is there something else at work here ?

Check your sound drivers.

Nothing wrong with my sound drivers. Every other game works except for Freelancer accompanied with the TNG 1.56

Try it with 1.58, if you are referringto battleships sounds it would be due to the fact that the view is so far away.

Did you also notice this little part in the FL manual.

Static sound issues while playing Freelancer on a Sound Blaster Live

There are known issues with older audio drivers and some MP3 codecs. In order to correct this problem, please make sure that you update to the latest sound card drivers and make sure that the Fraunhofer codec is installed.
