Starlancer on WinXP ??

Hey guys,

I just pulled out my old copy of Starlancer thinking I would enjoy some dogfighting.

It installs and runs fine on my system, until I fire a laser 2 times in rapid succession, at which time I am promptly dumped to desktop. This does not happen when firing a missile, and if I fire lasers slowly such that the previous blast is no longer visible when i fire the next, I am fine. It seems to be thqat if I try to have 2 or more laser blasts visible on screen at the same time, the game crashes.

System info:
Athlon XP 1900+
1GB DDR RAM
WinXP Home (fully patched up to date)
NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4400
DirectX 8.0

I have tried all the different options in the Video setup section, including using the software renderer, and still have the same problem.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

pel

Try disabling EAX in your sound options if it was activated. It worked for me, your crashes to desktop would be significantly decreased (It would become rare)

I had a problem with SL crashing on Win2k, disabling fixed it. But SL still has some bigs it does crash sometimes, but nowhere near as much with EAX enabled.

Fluffle Master..

Wow,

Thanks guys, I disabled EAX and now I am almost playing fully enabled.

I'll make a separate post with my next difficulty

Thanks,
