Phoenix - Nova Cannon how do u get it to work?

Whenever I used the phoenix I don't think i ever got the nova cannon to work. I would select the nova cannon, press spacebar to fire and nothing would happen. Am I missing something? Am i stupid or has anyone else here had the same problem?

hehehe... that was a trick... u 'hold' the space bar down (or ur fire key) and the energy bar thing on the left starts going down (if u set ur powerball thing to max weapons, then it'll go down faster) and when if goes down more than half, then release. the longer u hold it (max is emptying the bar) the stronger the weapon gets. but the only good use 4 it is rilly slow targets or stationary ones, like kurgens, the grevich, and subtargets on cap-ships. if u can use it on fighters at 60k, then u must have superhuman aim :p but i shot down 6 fighters under 5 mins but with the nova cannon at nose distance - it was cool - they went up in one shot...

This war - is a game of chess - and i have a plan - and its my turn - to hit back - KimK

The general rule is, when your ship starts shaking it's ready to fire.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Heh... that one fooled me too at first!
Personally, I feel there's nothing better for taking down Basilisks... charge, fire, kill, then start charging immediately... by the time you get the next one lined up, it's good to go.

Nova Cannon rocks!

I find the range is 40k, and it's incredibly hard to hit until 20k. Sometimes it's actually easier to hit fighters and that with it, because you don't have to lead, and it travels instantly.

And the nova cannon charge is separate from normal weapons charge, which means you can be charging it, then press 'full guns' and fire some shots while the nova cannon is still charged. Or you can just fire then switch right away, to get lots of damage.
Weapons don't recharge while it's charged, though.

Why make your own mistakes when someone else has already made them for you?
