Mission 8

First of all, hi everyone. i just got SL last week and im on mission 8. i've tried the mission at least 20 times, and i still cant beat it. What i do is as soon as the krasnaya jumps in i go destroy the shields and a couple turrets and then i burn over to where the torp bombers jump in. I kill one of the torp bombers before it launches and then shoot down all the other torps. The when steiner tells me to shoot turrets i go do that...and then a torp bomber decloaks right behind reliant and kills it with 4 torps. after that around 5 other coalition ships warp in, i run, get reassigned to yamato and the captain throws me off the ship.

IN SHORT
-how do i beat mission 8?

Don't attack the Krasnaya in the beginning. Do what the objectives tell you to do, KILL FIGHTERS. Follow everything to-the-letter. I don't know why its like that, I guess DA wants to teach you the meaning of following orders

If I remember right, the reason that the torp bomber uncloaks and blows the Reliant away is because you took too long to accomplish the main objectives. Maybe see if you can do it faster if you're having problems with it happening all the time.

I just retried the mission myself, and didn't have that torp bomber uncloak. Go after the fighters, as soon as the reliant takes out the torpedos lock on and go after the torpedo bombers which will appear immediately, then as soon as you're done with that go after the shield generator and turrets, before being told to. This should save enough time that the mission will go off fine.

practice taking down fighters in a matter of seconds, u need to learn to do that. and since the missiles never effect u, don't bother trying to dodge them or use counter-measures-that'd save time. and as mentioned, follow the objectives to-the-letter, why ?? coz if not, u fail. and i think u encountered what i did when my yamato got blown up in mission 22 i think it was, but i won't go into details. it can happen (mine was coolers coz i got kicked out of a cooler place)...
well, gd luck

This war - is a game of chess - and i have a plan - and its my turn - to hit back.

Dodging missiles isn't required, just drop a counter measure or two and see if the missile lock symbol goes away. They can hit you if you ignore them though, and missiles are rather painful to get nailed by.

It's still taking too long to complete the mission that gets the Reliant torpedoed from behind, and in this case following orders quickly (And predicting the orders ahead of time) is the key to beating the mission. Other missions that's not always quite as critical.

I actually beat it the first time i tried it after i posted that. And i didnt follow orders! i just did it the old fashioned way: blow up more stuff in less time. Thanks for all the help though.
On a different topic, anyone know where i can get a no-cd patch? is one even needed if you do the full install?

Most of the missions are like that. Do the objectives as they're given to you, and you'll be fine. The only missions I have trouble with are "escort the slow-and-vulnerable-and-poorly armored-stuff" type missions (Gamma...learn to use your cloak...) and Dark Reign, which is a matter of hoping the ion cannon doesn't go for me.

i just figured out how to make it so that the reliant takes no damage, ignore the bombers just attack the torpedoes and eventually the bombers will run outta torps and your teammates will =destroy the bombers (the bombers will only launch thew next salvo after the previous has hit or been destroyed, all in all there are 4 salvos of 3 missiles each to take out) 3 ships x 4 missiles each = 12 torps to knockout

Mouse? What mouse? There's no such thing as fine motor control in MY deathmatch!

I like nailing torp bombers before they launch, where possible. Makes a nicer boom.

the cloak ??? Is there anyway to predict where fighters will warp out ? I'ms stuck at the same mission... even though I follow orders... I guess I'm too slow, I'll take some more training !!!

For this mission, it's gotta be takin out shield gen. followed by engines before a few fighters and then using afterburners to get back for some torp shooting. :p
Took a few attempts!!!!!
