ever lost the yamato ?

i thought i might share this rather interesting - discovery - u might call it~
- i checked the FAQ's and what else can i check~
i am playing mission 21 i think, the one where u go in as Kamov torp bombers and blast the Varyag and somthing else into pieces. and u lose the endeavor there.
i had no problems b4, except the first time i played, when i had no clue what to do. so i go into formation, get clearance, fire torps, so far so good, i launch as phoenix with two hawk pods and two fuel pods. i rummage around, blast every torp in sight and on radar (well i think i did) and u guys should note, the Kamov's can cloak. i knew that b4 but i never thought they'd cloak here.

so i go oblivious to the torps, thinking everythings done, and move onto the shield generators. after i blow the second shield generator, game cuts into one of those movie scenes where something happens.

a Kamov torp bomber de-cloaks on the spot where u go into land, and fires all four rounds into it. 'there's an incoming torp-bomber attack! tigers, take care of it!' the movie dosen't cut back into game, and the torps hit the Yamato, and goodbye Yamato, the Torp bomber gets blasted b4 it jumps out. dont u think its weird?? i never lost the yamato b4.

have you guys ever lost the yamato like this ? this cut game movie thing never happened b4. tell me if u ever encoutered this.

i thought i'd add what happened after the yamato blew up.
'i don't believe it! everyone's gone !' *i look at the yamato going to pieces* and then - we have to retreat - we jump back out, and would u believe it - 'this is fort Bayer control you are cleared to land. you should see the new fort. its one good piece of image. heey ! i should have taken a snap shot. which button was it ?? and then the picutre blurrs, looks even better - and a shuttle goes out, and i thought u were being re-commisioned to another ship (secret mission ??) but its actually game over.
well, i hope u think about this, coz its rilly weird 4 me.

That cut scene happens whenever you lose either the Reliant or the Yamato, of course, the game is then over...

I've lost the Yamato about a zillion times...but the Reliant only once. My favorite base-ship loss was during the fight with the Pukov. Yamato got hit pretty hard by the Kamovs that attack it. I decided to sit right next to it so I could get any incoming torps from te Pukov. I sat right in front of one of the Yamato's torp launchers, not knowing where I was. It launched, blowing itself and me into little bitty pieces.

I lost the Yamato once, I found it a week later when I cleaned up my room

No but seriously, I've never lost it. I only lose when I
a) fly into one of the torps or
b) fly into that bright blue thingie the Yamato fires.

Yeah, I've got hit by the blue thingie once or twice. It's kind of annoying, cuz I was heading towards the enemy capship and didn't see it cuz it hit me from behind.

i'm serious guys - it looked like as if it was scripted. i mean when u lose ur base carriers in things like the pukov, i actually see where the torp came from, in this case ,the pukov, and nothing else. here, it was like i tagged all teh torp launchers, but one jumped in cloaked, and went up to the yamato and torped it, and it blew up !! the torp launcher blew up ! it got shot, like it was scripted, the entire thing !!

It is scripted, you have to make sure that there is enough defense left for at least one or two more torpedo hits. At least that what I did when it happened to me and that seemed to work.

What I really hate is when the Yam only takes a few hits, but a few fighter bullets from a saber or a basilisk convince Mukai to run away. That really ruins a mission, that could have easily been won had he stayed. I did everything in proper order, but one of the torp bombers got past me and scored with all 4 launchers. Since the Pukov's turrets were slightly toasty, and the black guard had been reduced to 2-3 fighters by that point, there wasn't any real threat to the Yamato's safey(as I never fail to hit the Pukov's torps, seeing as how they always come from the same place). And then he has the balls to give me a game over for bringing dishonor to his ship. Whoopee. You're the one who ran, Captain.

Uh, 4 torpedoes already hit the Yamato? fighters cannot scorch capship's paintjob, much less hurt/kill one. Ignore fighters. You're complaining that the Yamato ran away after being torpedoed by FOUR torps? four torps would've killed the old Reliant! Running away sounds like a good idea.

I never get to jump out when I lose a lot of armor. The ship's got big 'ol shields, it can take the heat from a few fighters.

Please reread my last post. As I already said, I agree with you. Fighters can't harm the hot water supply on the Yamato. It's that four ship-killer torpedoes that you said you let got away.

i still don't agree with fear factor. how come alliance ships are junk when the coalition ships have thicker paint jobs ?? it just doesn't make sense.. the pukov took 8 hits 8! and it wasn't busted, though nearly. that was when gamma wing moved in to torp the pukov 'we've damaged it but its still operational, sorry captain' and to make sure the yamato doesn't take any serious damage apart from torps, i even took out the big thing that shoots red stuff same time as i took out the shield generators while the 'admirals' are chatting.

oh, by the way, i found that it could happen. i tried again, took down every single torp and 3 of the 4 torp bombers and also, i watched one jump out, so i can conclude that the losing yamato thing was eye-candy... and i still have to say, THE ALLIANCE SHIPS ARE JUNK COMPARED TO COALITON SHIPS, HENCE, COALITION RULES !!

This war - is a game of chess - and i have a plan - and its my turn - to hit back - KimK

"Stuff that shoots red things" = laser turrets. They're never a threat to your capship. It's there to defend their own ships from fighters and torps. So you do need to take it out, but for an entirely different reason: offense, not defense. Let's face it:

-Alliance pilots don't know how to shoot straight, except for you.
-Coalition pilots know how to shoot straight, but can never find Yamato's or Reliant's shield gen
-Coalition ships are too stupid: they put the shield gens OUTSIDE the hull so that I can destroy it.
-Alliance Capital Ships never get destroyed, save by ion cannon and torpedoes. Enemy fighters, enemy laser/particle turrets can't harm capships.
