Probably start a firestorm, but I hope not...

Okay. Here's the deal.

A friend and I are writing a crossover story. Probably won't amount to much, but what the hell, it's fun!

After Prophecy: Secret Ops or whatever the expansion is called (too late for me to go into detail...stay awake...need...more...caffine...), the WC universe is, for the most part, at peace. Then, something happens.

Those of you who know of WC: Prophecy, and have the chart, will see exactly where I'm talking about. A horrific new race opens a space/time rift in the Weslyn System, opening the solar system to another, parallel universe...that of Starlancer, just as the war between the Alliance and the Coalition is really getting started (after the fake treaty and all that).

Ships start crossing through this threshold. The new aliens don't quite show up for a while, but Confed and Coalition ships DO clash. So I was wondering: What is the effective range of Starlancer weapons? WC weapons kick out to about...oh...12,000 klicks at maximum. 8,000 is a safer bet. Now, when you play Starlancer, ever notice what range their weapons kick in at? The range number says that you're accurate at about 80 something...but 80 WHAT? I can't figure it out, and I need to so that I can figure out how to work dogfights.

HELP!!!!

Eighty klicks or something. and that's for the fighters.

i've been thinking about that 4 some time. the targeted object is labelled '80' thingos away, and ur speed its like 320 thingos (predator) and u shoot. i normally wont count that as accurate. things get accurate when its 1 thingo away. but did u notice on the target circle thing, it had 'k' on it ? i'm thinking it's for 'Kilometers' not too obvious ?? i think it makes sense. 80 divided by 320 gives 0.25 times 60 gives 15 minutes. i never bothered going on normal speed, i just afterburn all the time, so i dont know the time taken in gameplay, but i'm betting it dont take 15 minutes. so mb the speed indicators at kpm (km per minute) but it might get too quick, so i'm now guessing its like an arbitary unit. i wont advice doing a crossover. if u wanna, then modify the entire measuring system and unify it, like the WC (what ever that is) is accurate at say - 80 km (something others will understand) why dont u ask the brothers who made the game in teh first place?
