Joysitck Help

Hey guys, Great to see folks out here still playing this game. I bought this oh so long ago and plowed through it. I loved it. I'm reloading it now to play again but I'm having some trouble and was hoping someone out here may know how to fix it.

So essentially, I can't get my joystick to work in the game. I have a Saitek USB Cyborg Evo controller. I tried the default XP drivers (after calibrating the joystick so I know it works) and the latest Saitek drivers. I verfied that it's enabled in the game as well.

Has anyone else seen this? Does it just not like USB? Or could it be the controller in particular?

I'd love to get back in this game...!

My new logitec FFB Wingman works great with XP...but the foce feedback does not. Actually it only works when I blow up. Dissapointing, considering how well it worked with my MS Sidwinder.

I'VE GOT A SAITEK CYBORG EVO FORCE ALL I NOTICE IS THAT THE FORCE FEEDBACK DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY, EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE

As to having problems with USB, I don't think this is the case... I use a Sidewinder Precision 2, and have for years, with no trouble at all. Maybe its because its MS hardware for an MS game, though I think it should hardly matter. Ensure that your joystick works with other games also. If this doesn't help, curse at your computer.

Know this is a few months old, but to the poster who said the Force Feedback isn't working - had the same problem with my Microsoft Force Feedback 2 stick. Are you running Windows XP? If so, to get forces to work, you have to set Starlancer to use Windows 2000 compatibility by right clicking the icon, going into properties, and checking Windows 2000 compatibility mode in the Compatibility tab. Worked great for me!

Be aware that using this compatibility mode can cause more crashes and even make the game refuse to load (did that for me...)

Hmmm. Is there another mode that works better? I've had a few crashes, but nothing terrible yet (only up to mission 10). It seems *fairly* stable.

Just out of curiosity, I tried Starlancer in both Windows 98/ME mode and Windows 95 mode. Both crashed. It works in regular XP mode, but without force feedback. 2000 mode works just as well but enables force feedback. I have had some crashes, but I actually just got Startup Organizer so I could start without anything extra loading, and I haven't had a crash since then (fingers crossed).
