New Objectives for Starlancer Veterans

Hi everyone, I've played through Starlancer several times, and I was wondering what kinds of different objectives you can have to create new challenges in the game. One interesting thing I've tried is seeing how far I can go on the difficult setting without dying/replaying. The farthest I've made it is a mission or two after the destroy the Ramses mission. The most common way I'm destroyed seems to be blowing up torps or torp bombers when I'm too close. The second is running into capships while making strafing runs. Of course, this goal gets very old after awhile. I've also wondered if I could achieve more kills than Steiner before the message of "..top allied ace Klaus Steiner.." or earning more kills than McGann and Viper before the mission when they defect. I think I read here that people have had more kills than Steiner at an early point. Unfortunately, I'm sure the news announcement would still call him the leading ace. I've also tried to get the maximum amount of medals- and I think I've done that. If anyone here has tried these, how did you do? Are there any other challenges you've had that have made the game more fun on a second play through? Have you learned any secret or little known goals in missions? I like to take out the Scarab troop carrier which jumps out shortly after you first attack the prison ship. I also like to try to take out Katrina Ilyana- which I haven't done yet since my targeting radar doesn't list her (I think she's the bottom fighter on the targeting option). I also noticed some kind of pod shooting out in the mission where you fly Kamov bombers- what is this and has anyone shot it? Any other interesting ships to try to take out?

I remember my second mission, when the Pumas cal lfor aid after wiping out a fighter hunting pack, that when you see the yellow that signifies Puma Leader is calling for aid, I homed in onto his location, which was 5000 kilometers away, and started afterburning. Anybody else do this?

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand you. What is the yellow thing you're talking about? Also, if it's 5000 KM away, how can you see that it's there? Well, I have the Sega Dreamcast version, so maybe our games are a little different. Sounds interesting though, and if I can do that on my console, I'd like to know more about what you're referring to.
