GamePad

Hi,
I'm trying to play StarLancer using a gamepad, not a joystick. I was wondering if anyone had a few tips on how to get it to work.
Currently, the controls lock up after a few seconds of gameplay.
I've tried remapping the gamepad buttons to keyboard keys using programs like Joy2Key and Joy2Mouse. But, they don't seem to work.
Thanks for the help.

Is the gamepad USB? I've found that having other USB devices plugged into my computer overrides my joystick when I attempt to play. Could be the source of your problem.

Yes, the gamepad is USB. It's called a "Monster Gamepad". But, no, there aren't any other USB devices or joysticks installed.

Note, that I have the same problems when running IWar/IWar:EoC - but not when running FreeLancer.

Is your problem with Starlancer, or with Freelancer?

StarLancer.
Also, a correction from what I stated above. I played FreeLancer again last night and found out that I'm having identical problems with that game, now, as well.
I remember not having them earlier, so they may be a result of upgrading to a newer version of DirectX (e.g. DirectInput).

UPDATE: I replaced the mouse and the problems went away.
