more xp problems (please help)

just got this game and it keeps having that 'whatever' has a encountered a problem and needs to close message. i've seen all the other topics and people saying disable EAX but hoe on earth do you do this! its no good saying do it from the game menu cause i can't get to it if it crashes when i start it up can i? also i've tried re-installing several times both regular and full.

Try running it in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. I do and, with a very few exceptions, I've had no problems at all.

Ban REVERSE THRUST! Fly something other than a phoenix for a change!

just tried that and no luck, the error thingy says something about lancer.icd is that significant?

no the whole point is that it isn't working, at this rate im giving up and taking it back to the shop

Try all the different compatibility modes i.e '95, '98 etc.

if that doesn't allow you to start the game try uninstalling it and reinstalling with a full install.

I'm not having any problems playing SL with WinXP. Try going to options and then audio and trying one of the other selections like Dircetsound and see if that works. I just installed SL on this machine that I've had over a year now to play it again after spending time here at TLR for FL help. Hope this helps.
